First off, I'd like to say THANK YOU to Alex Vizcarra for organizing CANYONBALL VI in Southern CA! I had A BLAST and so did my buddy Jay.

It was nice to see old faces as well as new faces! Man I had a blast!

To folks that left after lunch... you are lucky.

We ran into some trouble. I can't get into details right now, but I have this to show you.

Here's a video clip from my digital camera.

Video Clip

Yes... that is a road block that the CHP set up for us.

I was bummed that I couldn't go this year, as in years past. Sounds like you guys had fun all the way up to the roadblock! I hope that it was nothing too serious!

I had an absolute blast! This was my first time attending Canyonball and I must say, it definitely beats my own canyon runs by far. =) The drivers were all very good. It was a nice chance to show my gf just what a performance car can do. =) It was great seeing everyone, old and new.

That sinking feeling when we rounded that corner and saw flashing lights... no words to describe it. =/

Don't leave us hanging like this. What happened? And I can't seem to download that video clip of yours...

This drive certainly was a blast...but man was it hot this morning! As lunch approached, I started thinking about how nice it would be to be relaxing by the pool...made the decision to depart after lunch easy. The funny thing is that Marina del Rey was completely engulfed in fog by the time I got home!

Thank goodness! I was under the impression the rest of the gang had a bit of a run-in with the law. We had only stayed until lunch (which was fairly late in the afternoon anyway)

Thanks again to Alex for organizing and leading the drive. We had a great group of seasoned canyon rats this year. Lots of fun!! Looking forward to next year.

Yes indeed. They were filming a commercial for the new Aston Martin. Apparently when we pulled around the corner and came face to face with 2 CHP, they stopped us and asked Alex if we had been racing. Alex is sitting there with racing gloves, radio strapped to his shoulder, and his V1 blinking and going off. =P "No officer, we were just out enjoying the weather." Yeah right! Anyhow, they escorted us through the area and then we were on our way. We all were thinking the worst though when we rounded the bend. It was kind of surreal, like something out of a movie. Started thinking about how many points I had on my record, if I'd gone to traffic school recently, how much my insurance would go up... etc etc. =)

We were trying to keep you guys in suspense for awhile.

I hope I didn't make anyone freak out too much. If I did, sorry, it was a bad joke.

The video should work now. The link I setup had an underscore but the actual file did not.

It was definitely like a movie. I thought I was playing Grand Theft Auto 3 at first and they setup a road block for us because they couldn't catch us! Our V1's (at least 3 of us had it) were blasting, we rounded a few last corners, saw the lights, and both CHP's were pulling into positions... I started thinking the worse... that new CA Law about car impoundment, points on the record, fines, insurance hikes... I knew we were OK though... jeez... it's not like we were speeding.

Again, thank you Alex for organizing this event. It was a BLAST!

O_O I wish I went.

Hey Randy, sorry I didn't call you. I had a previous engagement.

BTW, I cannot seem to download the video? It says I can't download some kind of decompressor. I can only hear it, I can't view it.

Here are two pics I got from our day out. More to come as they get developed. From my experience going this time, I can understand now why this event is considered a classic. =)

The beginning of it all. We all met at Ralphs.

Giving our cars a break and a chance to cool down along the side of a road. It was crazy hot out there that day.

HaHaHa!!! It was a GOOD joke

I was LMAO when I later saw the post that it was for the film crew!

Good One!

What a relief!

As for my pics of the event, I took very few this year (19 35mm stills and NO digital stills). I also shot very little video. It will be some time before I get my photos developed since I didn't even finish the roll. Hope to see more of your shots in the meantime...

Okay!!! Got some pics up. Nothing really spectacular. I missed the second half festivities.

Glad to hear everyone was okay. (Phew!) Thanks Alex for putting on the event again. As usual, I had a great time with GREAT people!!!

Randy,

Those are really nice pics you took, was wondering if you had any pictures of that yellow airplane landing.
