Taking two spaces is inviting disaster. A co-worker and I went to lunch one day. On the way out a car had parked in two spaces nearby. He walked over to the car and kicked in the door!!!!!!!
This was many years ago. The guy still lives here in Tampa.

I do this, but its a little different . . I try to park my NSX next to other nice cars if I have a choice. The logic is that owners of nice cars are less apt to open THEIR doors\back out in a careless manner. But as for parking a shitpile next to an NSX, I don't get it!

This reminds me of another reason why I stoppped driving my NSX to work.

I used to park in a fairly wide spot that was next to a striped no-parking area. I'd park a couple of tires on to the stripes so that if someone parked in either spot next to me, we could both have our doors fully open and not touch. My boss would often park his 355 or M5 on one side of my NSX (usually on the side with the stripes, so he too could put a couple of tires on to the stripes) and another co-worker would park on the other side.

BUT, just when I thought I had the ideal spot, some idiot decided to squeeze their beat up pickup truck between our cars on the striped no-parking area. I left the office to alert the parking structure attendant (because they do issue tickets to people who park fully on the stripes) and then went up to check on my car. The back of the pickup was less than two inches from the back of my NSX! Thankfully, they managed to exit their vehicle without denting my car...but I had to move my car because I was so paranoid that they wouldn't be so careful when they returned (especially if they found a ticket on their windshield).

The nerve of some people!

I have to post on this one as it has always amazed me as well. Herd mentality is one thing, and there is possibly something to that, but I can't believe how often I park away from "the group" only to come back and find an enormous truck or SUV parked right next to my NSX, with other spaces open everywhere.

When I drive my Land Cruiser, I am usually still alone when I get back.

This still doesn't bother as much as a recent trend I have noticed, which is to spit on the windows/windshield. Twice now I have had my driver's window spit on, and talking with some people around the office here, they are seeing the same thing with their nicer cars as well
