Camera suggestions

After two years of use I recently, crushed my Canon SD500:frown: so I'm in the market for another camera.

I've been considering the Canon G7 and the SD850IS as its replacement.

The one thing I loved about my old camera was that it was super easy keep in my pocket and whip out whenever I wanted to take a photo.

Any suggestions?

Well, you're definitely not going to be fitting a G7 in your pocket, and if you're going that form factor there are probably many other options to consider. I'd recommend going to dpreview.com and using their buying guide>features search to see your options based on whatever your requirements might be.

If you're interested in the G7 form factor, I'd also recommend checking out the S5IS. There are MANY people in this forum though that are serious photographers, I'm more of a tech geek who likes to keep my wife in good equipment so am just always reading, rather than having much practical hands on experience.

I took a look at the S5IS and it is quite nice, but it's more the size of the old G6. The new G7 is small enough to fit in my fanny pack.

From Dpreview they "Highly Recommend" the A710is so I guess I'll consider that or the new A720is since the former is out of stock at the store I've visited.

What do you think of the SD950IS and A650IS(might be a little too big for me)? They are also due to be released the same time as the G9. As long as I can get my new camera before Hawaii in November I think I'll live.
