Cam Belt Replacement

Cranking the engine pumps the oil around. I do that before starting the engine if the car was not driven for a while.

The best thing may be to rotate the engine 120° once a month in the winter and then come spring, when you bring the car out of hibernation, briefly crank it a few times to get things lubricated before starting it.


Edit: I got that idea from Kaz's blog on the NSX Club of Britain's website. After a big service, Kaz rotates the engine by hand several times to circulate some oil. Then he disables the fuel injection and ignition and carries out several short bursts of cranking followed by a bit longer cranking. After oil has been splashed around the engine, he enables the fuel injection and ignition again and starts it up.
