Sorry if you already saw this post on "Track & Race Reports":D

Which course to choose...

It looks like the event on Dec 3 and the one on Dec 13 are using different tracks at Willow Springs.
Any comments on which is better for beginners?

Pick which track

Rating/length/runoff of each? If you had one to pick and why. Thanks

Here are the track maps showing the streets course and the big track:

Which is better?? To me, they are like two different golf courses. Most seasoned racers will say that with the exception of turn 9, the big track is not very interesting, and not as technical, but on the other hand, the big track is "the fastest road in the West" - it's very high speed and favors high HP cars. Lots of fun for open track events to see what your car can "really do", and the big track is sort of an unofficial benchmark of speed in So Cal...you can say that your car does 1:35's or whatever, you will usually be referring to the "big track"!

The streets track is generally considered better for beginners because it does not offer the potential to build up as much speed as the big track, but both are relitively safe as far as tracks go, with lots of runoff and very few spots where you are likely to hit a wall.

Streets is more technical and safety depends on how many cars they pack on the track. I prefer Big Willow over Streets for the speed and the length of the track vs cramming a dozen or more on the Streets. Also, Big Willow will run you a little more $$.

If your interested in a Big Willow day, there's a Ferrari/Lambo/Maser/Porsche shop called FX Performance and they host a track event at Big Willow every 6-8 weeks and rent the track for the day. 10-20 cars for the entire day, though its pricey. The more that sign up the cheaper it will be, but there's a trade off.

To some, the sheer amount of laps with no set run groups for the entire day makes it worth it to me. In 100+ in the shade, we still turned in at least 30 laps a car, including my car, and I rode passenger for at least 20 laps as well. There was still plenty of time left over between cool down periods (for the drivers as well as the cars). If the weather is cooler, well, you do the math. At the end of the day you'll be spun around in a 360 challenge by a 360 challenge team pushing 10/10ths and the chef is amazing.
