Buying car from co-worker... advice?

This is because people are typically moving UP in house size and prestige and want furniture to match. Well, not "people," women.

I just solved this by buying top-shelf furniture at the outset. You may end up spending $12,000 for a medium sized room, but at least you won't have to spend it more than once.

Well - I guess I got lucky. My woman isn't concerned with such things. After 7 years of marriage we finally eliminated the last piece of dorm furniture from the living room last year. :)

Tell your boss that you can afford to pay him $20k for the car. Then mention that you could afford to pay more if you had a raise.

I'm also window shopping for S2K's ('02-'03) and agree with others that market price for an '02 is $20K-22K. Because it's a co-worker, I'd be honest and tell him current market prices and leave it up to him to suggest a price. Also, ask him what maintenance has been done and what he thinks is pending.

Even though recent prices have held strong, I think they'll drop 10% or more as we approach mid to late winter.
