Burnt smell coming from the engine bay area

I was driving the car and noticed my car was smoking on the right side. I pulled over and opened up the engine hatch to look in. I noticed that some burnt rubber/plastic around the timing belt area. When I got home I took a closer look in the engine area around the timing belt. I could not find where or what burnt. I looked under the car and found nothing out of the norm. I've driven it quite frequently to see if it will occur again. Other than the burnt smell, nothing that I could tell is wrong with the car. Anyone else experience this?

Soon after I purchased my new '05 I too smelled a burning smell, same place...initially I thought it was clutch but turns out it was just tires.......
