Broken power window

I just bought my 92 nsx last week, but the passenger side window does not go down. It doesn't make any sounds from the motor or anything. Could this be a problem with the window regulator or a shorted wire? I know the regulator is a common problem among the older model nsx. I went to the Acura dealer and they said they wanted $680 for a window regulator. Does this seem like a reasonable price? Any help will be very appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the wonderful world of door panel removal. Mine have been off and on about 5 times now, and it still is kinda a pain to get the panel off after everything is disconnected. I would get an Ohm-meter and check to see if the motor is getting pwer, and go from there. One hint though, I believe you have to have the driver's side plugged in for the passenger's to work.
While you are in there, check for the "window fix-it thingies" and do your best to lube the track. I would do the job yourself, just to get acquainted with your new best friend. Welcome to the fold...

Oh yeah, price doesn't seem TOO unreasonable from what others have said, from what I can remember, but make sure you get another opinion other than mine....

Doesn't sound like the regulator if the motor isn't even running (although that doesn't mean it wasn't a problem that caused other issues!)
Couple of quick things -
1) sounds too obvious but is the master switch on the drivers door panel enabled for the passenger window to operate?
2) There are individual fuses for each door - the passenger door motor is off fuse # 47 (20A) in the main relay box
3) Find a schematic & trouble shooting guide in the On-line Service Manual - enter page # 1245 in the box at the bottom that says "1 0f 1420" and press "enter" & it will take you right there. (thenjust scroll on down for the next 3-4 pages for the whole T/S guide)

Good luck!

My money is on explanation number 1. Never ignore the obvious!

that big price is because the person has to adj the window for windnoise after he does the reg.it should be about 3 to 4 hour labor to do check that out.and it can be a wire problem lets hope the person diagnosed it correctly

from your professional opinion, what do you think it will cost to fix the problem...mr. sample.

window reg

ok let go 4 hours labor my shop charges 65hr but the dealer i would say 80hr. 320 in labor plus the part. you know that reg only has 2 wires to it just use a test light and check for power on one side when going up and the other when going down.you could also take a battery jumper box or battery and put power to the reg see if it moves then put it the other way and see if it moves the other way. goood luck let me know what happens

I just installed the driver side Regulator in my car in less than 1 hour. The window did not require much adjustment. This is a VERY easy task for anyone who works on their own car. I was shocked at how easy the R/R was.

Call Nelio in Sacramento. The part is $350 new. If you are comfortable installing part I suggest you diy it. It really is easy.
