hello!

Anyone had a similar problem? A NSX owner called me that his AC belt was broken 2 times within 300km. Is it possible the AC compressor get stucked once of a sudden when it is turned on?

thanks

Normally, people look into the A/C compressor getting stuck after the first time the belt flew around their head. :) Not unreasonable. The A/C needs some internal temp to get stuck in his early stage. But there's a good chance there is debris within the hole system. Or he has plenty of oil in the system.

Well something is wrong for sure. To much oil, improper Freon charge so liquid Freon in getting to the compressor, improper belt installation, to tight, bad idler pulley. Is the belt just coming off or burning up?

The AC is working fine and after 30 min of driving the belt is rubbing and smoke is coming out of the engine bay.

Can I use a used 1991 AC compressor on a 1995 NSX? Have to get a adapterkit with the newer oil for it, right?

I'd definitely check the idler pulley first before you change the compressor.

91 on 95 should be fine. Maybe you have to change the adapter plate and gasket.

What he told me, the pulley is 100% okay. So if I sell him my new AC compressor, the oil in it has to be changed out with the oil which is in a small alu bottle of the AC conversion kit? I think not, cause oil is oil and in the kit is a new oil just for a oil-change, right? you get me? *g*

What are you selling to your customer, a new one or a used 91 one? R12 and R134a use different oils. If it's the compressor it's high-likely the system has debris inside of the blocking unit. Flush it and you remove all the rest of the oil too. Yes, you can use the full amount of the bottle. But you have to empty the oil in the compressor you sell.

okay got it, either if it is a new or used 1991 compi, I have to use the oil für 1993+ NSX (new fridge fluid). I will tell him to flush the system.

thanks

R12: Mineral oil
R143a: PAG-oil
R12 to R134a converted system: Ester oil

The manual describes the oil replacement process very well for compressor replacement.
