Some of it is also venue specific.

"some people" (T Bell :) ) tend to frequent higher-speed (harder braking) tracks like Road America, whereas others might not.

I've been hitting places like Putnam Park and Gingerman more lately -- medium on brakes, tougher on left-side tires.

There's also technique/skill considerations...
- late braking versus "not so late" or "too late" (again, we get into the "some people" discussion here :) )
- how 'hot' you charge into the braking zone (again, "some people" might do it different than others :) )
- "forward-braking" (hit them hardest initially, then roll off them as you transition from brake back to gas) versus "reverse braking" (hit them medium, then add more braking force as necessary to setup desired turn-in entry speed)... the latter tends to be the common "beginner" method, as its close to what we do on the street; the former (forward braking) is actually how we prefer/teach at most HPDEs...
