Brake Caliper Paint

Can anyone recommend a clear coat hi temp paint, spray-on or brush-on?

I've painted mine but plan on removing the soon to do the entire caliper and want to grind the NSX down just enough to show the bare metal when done, the clearcoat it to protect. Not crazy about painting that part of it as it always seems to look a little grainy.

Any experience with clear, hi-temp sprays or anything?

Thanks, Don

This was an easy do-it-yourself project. Time and elbow grease are all that’s needed.

Everyone has their own way, but this is what worked for me. Had all brake calipers completely removed. (The car was in for a 60K service anyway)

(1) Small hand wire brush (2.99)
(1) Wire brush attachment for drill (8.00)
(3) Wire Brush attachments for Dremel tool (3.99 ea)
(1) Can VHT Racing Red Hi temp paint (7.99)
(1) Can VHT Hi Temp Clear Coat (7.99)

Many hours of wire brushing, Clean metal parts with acetone & tooth brush, Tape off rubber and piston areas. Coat any metal areas that are not to be painted with Vaseline (this allows you to wipe those areas clean after painting in complete.)

3-4 coats Red
Use Dremel tool to lightly grind paint off of the “NSX”
2 coats Clear Coat to protect bare metal of NSX emblem.

Granted, all this work may have been overkill, but I had fun doing it,
and the calipers look good from ant angle.

off to paint mine

MarkB,

I just bought the DUPLI*COLOR caliper kit from Wal Mart for $14.99

Anyway, I thought about you in that they only had 2 colors --- Red, which I want --- and you guessed it --YELLOW which you want!

Hope this helps,
JNSX
