my car has a couple minor dings. can they be taken out? i am new to the nsx and i have concerns about this. i would like the body to be perfect. can anything be done?

I once saw some amazing results achieved by a "paintless dent removal" guy on another NSX I was looking at but did not buy. I'd looked at the car with a significant (to me) front fender crease at the seller's home, then later ran across the same car in a consignment showroom and couldn't believe my eyes after spending at least 15 minutes looking at it. A PDR guy had worked on it, and I honestly couldn't have detected that it was ever damaged. I still didn't buy the car, but it wasn't because of the front fender.

I'd get the opinion of a very experienced PDR guy, and I'd find one with experience on aluminum; preferably NSX aluminum.

The key is finding a good PDR I've seen a lot of bad paintless repairs on cars that I've worked on. The PDR guy that does work at my shop can make a small dent near perfect. As long as there's no inner structure in the way and is accessible. Is the paint chipped or fractured? This comes into play also. Some PDR's are satisfaction guaranteed too, so if it's not acceptable you can always have it painted by a quality shop later. FYI I had a couple dings taken out of mine and I've been painting cars for 18 years

I have had several cars cleared of dings using a good Paintless Dent guy- it really is amazing what they can do. I had a pretty major dent in the door of my BMW, right thru the trim, etc.
They got it looking perfect (even buffed out the scratches).
I would give it a try before resorting to filler/paint.

John (ANYTIME) brings his bread home from paintless dent removal, is a forum member, and also an NSX owner. If you search "paintless dent removal." also inserting his user na,e, you will pull up some old threads that might be helpful. Additionally, I'm sure he would be willing to offer advice if he happens to see this thread. In case he doesn't, you nihgt want to PM him. ;)

Here are some of my replies that I made from some old threads a few years ago. The same would apply today (dang, time flies when your having fun!)

If you decide to have some dents removed from your car, here are some tips from a PDR(Paintless dent removal owner/operator.
1)Find someone who has many years of experience, not someone who just got into the business(get rich quick thinkers).
2)Get referrals; from dealerships and private parties.
3)Be sure the company offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee (you don't like ...you don't pay)
4) Go directly to a PDR company versus a detail shop or dealership, this way you will eliminate working with the middleman.

I own a Paintless Dent Removal company. I can offer some advice to all that are interested. If you're going to have someone look at your car to possibly fix it, then look for someone that can offer you referrals of dealers they work for or private individuals. Find out how long they have been doing this and how many cars they've worked on. (Part timers have accumulated time but not cars) I have worked on aluminum cars before and it's no problem if the dent is not too big. Usually a dent the size of a baseball and smaller are fixable to 100%. Creases can be fixed as long as it's not to close to an edge. (taillight , the end of the door or fender) Whoever you decide to use, please focus on the quality not the price. Usually you get what you pay for and I run across that constantly. People calling for the low price aren't always concerned about quality. You should do the same. Don't go for the guy that is low balling you or to anxious to fix your car. The best in the business are busy and not waiting around for someone to call them. Kinda like going to a restaurant with no one there, why aren't they busy? Bad service? Food? You get the idea. I've been doing this for <s>7</s> 10 years and have fixed over <s>18,000</s> 22,000 cars. I can say that I have seen my share of shoddy work, which cannot be re-fixed unless you take it to a bodyshop. Focus on quality, a 100% guarantee(you don't pay unless you are 100% satisfied),and someone who works on the car like it's his own car,as I do.

I have to sing the praises of dentless paint removal too. I have had dings taken out of at least 10 of my cars in the past several years. I swear by them. I have seen bid dings come out of my cars without any evidence remaining of the ding when they are done. (Long ago, in a galaxy far far away, I painted cars, so I have a good eye)
