Guys I have a Stoptech BBK with the black ST40 calipers. They have slotted rotors. I track the car on occasion, but I am also a bit of a style whore when it comes to my NSX. My car is silverstone. I was thinking of selling my BBK as it is still in the box, and buying the trophy ones. The caliper color on these is almost identical to the car's body color (a la synth19). Let's say that I spend $6500 on the trophy BBK. How much is the standard ST40 caliper system worth in the marketplace? I'm thinking I have to come up with at least $1000 for this "upgrade". Would you do this? Is it worth it? Is my BBK worth 5K new in the box?

Here is a side photo of my car. Squint your eyes and imagine... LOL

Or if you think it should be a whole other color tell me that too but I am thinking it would be good to keep a whole monochromatic silver/black scheme on the car.

Why upgrade? Why not just powdercoat the ones you currently have to your liking? Selling the old brakes for 5k may take awhile to sell. I kinda dig how the OEM color looks on silver. So maybe go with a gold finish, but silver would look great too. What kind of wheels do you have?

Powder coating and painting will just burn off at the track. Unless you think differently. Even my OEM gold has discolored a bit. I am using OEM 02+ wheels. I like them. Plus my brakes will look HUGE in the 17's.

Go silver. Since you said you are also a style whore, might as well go with some nice aftermarket wheels to show off the BBK. The stock wheels don't show the stoptech really well.

Ah, I forgot those trophy's will clear the OEM 17's. I think paint will definitely wear eventually, but powder coating should sustain the color much longer....

But.... But... I like the OEM wheel!! :frown:

LOL... So you'd do the swap even if t costs you $1000-1500 you can spend elsewhere?

Yes I would do the brake upgrade for 1000-1500 more if that is what makes me happy and if it's what I want. Why let 1k stand in the way? If happiness can be bought for 1k, it's still cheap.

Yes you like your oem wheels but a man can always have room for a second set of wheels, or two, or three. Think of your oem wheel as your steady gf and extra set of wheels as your mistress. A man can always have room for a mistress or two.;)

Have yours faded at all? Did you paint?

I would sell yours and get the silver trophies

I previously wanted the brembo Indys and bought the red lotus kit. I eventually sold the lotus kit and bought the 4 wheel Indy kit and just wished I did it the first time around when I knew that is what would make me happy

Yeah but I am not even sure the trophy will be better looking in my application. If that was decided for sure I would do it. That's why I am asking opinions. You knew yo wanted the Indy setup, I am not sure what I want.

My WPPro's perform amazing on the track and look fantastic. You can pick any color, they are anodized the same as StopTech.

I think the contrast of the black calipers would look great on your silverstone.

i voted silver:smile:

Trophys! I bought them specifically for the color only as the other default colors wouldn't match to well against my silver nsx. If you do it I'm sure you wont have any regrets.

Well I did try to buy yours. What color is your NSX exactly? Do you have a pic?

Right now I'm leaning towards keeping the black. I love hijacker's car but I don't think the WP is as well balanced as the ST setup and pads are much easier to get for the common ST40 caliper.

I'm just assuming by photos that the trophy matches silverstone paint it could be off. Looks like the poll is leaning toward the black too.

I think silver would look better but I am also for keeping what you already have, I am not sure if this makes sence .

Well it's an extra $1000-2000 that can definitely buy some other mods.

I voted to keep what you have. Why spend money on a color change when you can put that toward something else ...like some nicer looking wheels .

Sell or powdercoat them gold/bronze etc something bright. 5k for brakes you can not notice isn't worth it for me IMO

Hijackers look amazing!!!
