This for those who have some years under their belt, I am doing a little research .....

What were some of the best sports car in 1952 (import or domestic) - and not necessarily the most exotic, or the fastest to 60 mph ...... just using the same criteria that we apply for the NSX: the most balanced.

Ferrari 195 Inter (135bhp; 0-60 9.8sec)
Porsche 356 (55 bhp)
Alfa Romeo 1900 Supersprint (115bhp)
Aston Martin DB2 (105 bhp; 0-60 12.4sec)
MG TD (54 bhp; 0-60 21.3 sec)
Jaguar XK 120 (160 bhp; 0-60 12sec,0-100 35.3sec)
Lancia Aurelia B24 (110bhp; 0-60 12.5sec)
Maserati A6G 2000 (150bhp)
Austin Healey 110/4 (94bhp; 0-60 10.3sec)
Fiat 8V (115bhp; 0-60 10.4sec)

Besides the Gullwing, the Aston Martin DB2 and MGTD were excellent cars. The Jaguar C-Type was great for competition.

Production sports car is my focus. The Jaguar was very competitive if and when it was running and that was rare indeed .....

Attitude928, you have some nice selections there .... is there a source where one can get pics of these .....?

Interesting to note that 0-60 in 10 seconds seems to have been a major accomplishment ....... 50 years later, less than 5 seconds seesm to be an accomplishment.
