Just got Hawk Blue race pads (front) and Hawk autocross pads (rear). What's the best way to bed them in while on the street?
Do you mash the brakes hard whenever possible or take it easy? The rotors are relatively new.

Go out on an empty highway (not a city street).

1. Moderate stops: brake moderately from say 80 mph to 50 mph, then drive about a third of a mile while speeding up before starting the next one. Do this ten times.

2. HARD stops: now, brake REALLY HARD from 80 mph to 20 mph, again driving a third to a half mile while speeding up before starting the next one. Do this ten times. If you're doing this right, you should be able to smell the brake pads and you may start to encounter fade (less effectiveness).

3. Drive around for at least 10 minutes to give the brakes a chance to cool down.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 one more time.

Howard (is this you?), are you sure you want to run that combo? I am unfamiliar with Hawk autocross pads, but Blues are pretty aggressive, and you want the rears to be at least as aggressive, and maybe more aggressive than the fronts. Plus Blues will tear up your rotors if you run them on the street, vs autocross or track use. They will literally eat a set of rotors in 2-3 weeks of everyday driving. Just checking

I agree with above.I was stubborn and tryed the blue on the street, but they are too hard for cold(street use).If you can swap them at the track then go for it,but I changed to a more benign ,but squeaky ferrodo 3000.
