It was a great day for a drive yesterday and after joining Roger for a local car show I headed up to Beacon to catch a ferry to Bannerman's Island. It has been open for limited public access for a only a few years and is worth the trip to see the ruins of the "castle" that Bannerman built. You can gain ferry access from both sides of the Hudson, Beacon and Newburgh, so you can take a country drive and then add this on as a side trip.
