So the other day my car started making a noise out of the rear.I went over to OLDMNSX's house we put it up on jacks I decided it was the passinger side wheel bearing. So this morning I put it up on jacks to start tearing into it.I went to take off the passinger side rear tire and come to find out that my lug nuts loosened up and the noise was the spacer behind the wheel rattling.I am going to make it a habit to start checking those weekly.

I have a very similar sound right now on my 91. I just got my car back from the mechanic and they rebuilt the cv axle-boots and bearings on the rear passenger side of the car. I got about 10 miles down the road and i noticed the sound was worse than ever. REALLY LOUD at around 20 mph. I am going out right now to check the wheel and see if it not on tight. I also have spacers on my car so i hope that will fix the issue, i'll report back later.

Well it looks like i will have to check on that Monday after i stop back by the mechanics, they kept my lug nut key.

Can you describe your sound? My sound is metal on metal and is the loudest at around 20 mph, above 40 i can't hear it anymore because i think its spinning too fast and quiets down or something. It kind of sound like if someone took a fork and was circling it around the inside of a skillet or something.

Im going at lunch to get my lug nut key back and see if i cant tighten the wheels up any. Did your rear wheels have spacers too? The weird thing is that i only have 10mm spacers on the front and none on the rear yet the sound seems to be coming from the rear passenger side.

It's happenend more than once to me....where the mechanics are lazy/forgetful and don't torque down the lugs after they put the wheels back on. I almost lost a wheel on the the hwy going 70mph in my old S4. Scary stuff.
