backup camera wiring?

Thanks Drew and I_M_Legend for the info.

The 262 is the key for the D8 connector as there are at least TWO different standards for the D8 apparently (bad DIN committee!).

I recommend the D13 so the D8 can be used for other audio things in the future. Then again, everything is getting so small that the connectors are bigger than the device being attached....so it might not matter.

sigh: I'm so old, that I still think having a PhatBox in the trunk would be cool.

:eek:DIN committee for sure. I bought an 8 pin DIN from Amazon last year. Not compatible. (They also don't seem to have 13 pin Din M-F cables either.) It seems like some have the center pin in the middle, and some have it offset towards the"blank space" in the pin spacing?

Any suggestion how I can get a M-F extension cable and get the right 8-pin? (to make connectors for the front and the rear) so I can pass the trunk open signal, b/u camera power and video signal back to a Carpuride? Also contemplating a wire to control my power antenna.

This guy sells a cable just for that purpose:

There are TWO different Round 8-Pin Round DINs. Degree of difference is 270° or 262° (and I would like to hear the reasoning behind this).

AliExpress has 13Pin M and F Connectors...and there is only one version and it was used for the cell phone. Not that hard to solder on what you need. I have some spares and I'll be in the States soon enough, PM me.

I prefer the 13 pin DIN as you can double up the wires too and might want to use/keep the 8-Pin for some audio feature.

The shipping is $16, but the $56 total is only $50 more than the cable and cutting and soldering the wires myself, and it includes a modifier bracket for the camera mount, which would be at least 30 minutes for me to draft & print. Sounds like $50 well spent. Ordered.

I didn't like how bracket is designed. I used this instead:

You can mount it behind the license plate making it not visible.

Good point. I'll have a look. If it's not aesthetically pleasing, I'll make another, either like this, or incorporated into a black licence plate frame. But that looks like a pretty smart move for just $10.
