Effer,
You do notice that modern cars are all getting HEAVIER right ?
Unfortunately due to all the safety requirements these days (hey, even airbags weigh a little bit) cars are getting heavier not lighter.
I just can't see a new NSX weighing less than the current model. They will definitely have to pump up the hp.
Right, but I also notice that modern cars are getting fatter and bulkier and as Netviper explained perfectly, this isn't the case with the new HSC.
In fact, I am confident that Honda with its actual knowledge
( IOW read: more than 10 years later of 1991 ) and know how in matter of structural integrity and Al / CF construction will easily undercut the the NSX-R weight even by using a bigger powerplant.
Simple additions:
add the removal of: trunk, spare tire and bracket, pop up lights related stuff, ...
add the weight savings of a smaller and proportionally lighter chassis ( because made of Al and CF instead of only Al... ), simpler interior finition combined with use of CF again ( I can see some significant gain for seats only, as in the type R ), OEM headers and exhaust ( made of Ti maybe as for the Z06 ),...
this will certainly overcome the heavier discs and wheels and bigger engine...
But again this could be debatable because what will happen if Honda goes for ceramic carbon discs like Porsche and stays with a 3,2 L engine?
I do not pretend to own the absolute truth but IMO there is ample place for real weight savings...

Yeah but who talks about
airbags? Why not H or He bags?
Joking...
Fanman, you brought a lot of good points and maybe you're right but I repeat that Honda is a very clever and competent company always able to surprise the world...

Effer
Netviper and Robr, can you rewrite in the your guess also in the other related thread please?
Thanks!
