automatic not downshifting to first

Maybe it's because I've only driven a little (and mostly bad weather) but my automatic doesn't seem to want to downshift to first even if I floor it.

My previous NSX automatic seemed to do it without flooring it (though had to be aggressive).

Does the automatic stay out of first when the car is cold?

Can anyone else say when it will downshift?

thanks!

Not sure what you mean but the transmission will only downshift in D. I have never noticed it not down-shifting at WOT but I don't remember flooring it in 2nd gear.

Well, when the car is cold, the rev limiter will cut the power at around 7000 RPM, so I would guess that the automatic might not downshift when cold if the revs would exceed that figure after the downshift. Does that solve the mystery?

I'm in D

I know I'm in second because I felt the shift up coming around the corner. Then it doesn't shift down when I'm trying to accelerate.

I don't think so - I'm not going that fast... I'll have to drive it more to be sure.

More info...

(The dealer looked at it and tried to call Acura tech support, but didn't get through when they had the car.)

A couple of times after a stop, the car shudders when it first starts moving in first gear - haven't had it happen when I am in "manual" first, just in D.

The car is hitting the rev limiter at 7200 or less - the dealer thinks that's normal.
