Auto X Helmet

I'd like to buy a helmet so I won't have to keep bugging Anytime for one. I've read to not buy on the net, try them on at a retail outlet. Where would you recommend in SoCal I can go? Thanks for all the help.

I got my Bieffe from Sube Sports, 17161 Palmdale St, HB 714-847-1501. They had a lot in stock (many styles and brands) when I got mine.

They can be used if they meet current Snell and DOT specifications. If your helmets have been sitting for any period of time you should check your helmets thoroughly, the foam and the liner on mine had started to deteriorate.

Do helmets for auto crossing require closed or open face?

It doesn't matter, both are fine. If you don't have airbags, closed is better but it's not like you're going to hit anything autox'ing.

BTW, if you haven't read the Sept Autox Event thread I'll repeat my post here....

If anyone is interested in practicing before the Sept event, here's a time and a place.

SCCA/CSCC/Solo2's SCNAX Club is holding a combined team cup challenge and practice next weekend 8/9-10. While the team portion is already filled up there 15 spaces left in the practice group. You can go both days or just one. Price is $40 each day and you should get at least 12 runs a day. Instructors are available for free. Go to http://www.solo2.com/ and click the events tab and then click the 8/9-10 event listing to get the flier. Practice is now open to anyone signing up, no membership required.
