We've had the fine dining and it's time for some fine driving (and casual dining).

“Myf16” and I would like to invite the Bay Area and Sacramento folks to participate in this fun event.

Event: October 14th drive down Hwy 25 and end up at Fort Hunter Liggett.

Early Saturday the 14th the Sacramento NSXs will head south on I-5 and rendezvous with “myf16” (place to be determined).
Myf16 will then lead you over to Highway 25 on Little Panoche Road and Panoche Road, adding another great hour of twisties to your day.... There you will meet up with the Bay Area contingent just south of Hollister.

The Bay Area NSXs will meet in Gilroy at the Starbucks in the Outlets shopping centers. We’ll head down Hwy 101 to 25 through Hollister until we rendezvous with the Sacramento contingent at 25/Panoche Rd.

From “myf16” :
You will be talking about this one for years.

Highway 25 south, Jolon Road to Fort Hunter Liggett, Del Venturi Road 10 miles north to The Indians (granite formation near the road in Los Padres National Forest), back to the museum at Mission San Antonio de Padua, and dinner at the Hacienda Guest Lodge.http://hacienda.newhalltelecom.net/Dinner Menu.htm(There's a gas station there too.) An evening cruise on Nacimiento Road is also possible.

If we hit Highway 25 by noon to 1PM, we should have plenty of time for people to start the return drive in daylight. I promise plenty of wildlife sightings (deer, rabbits, and quail) and a scenic water crossing. Yes, you will really drive your car across a river through 1-inch deep water, because that's the only "bridge" there is. I promise not to splash you.

Those who wish, can stay overnight at the Hacienda and have a superb drive in the morning. http://hacienda.newhalltelecom.net/ The options for that would include Nacimiento Road over to Highway 1 (a great choice for early risers) or a leisurely cruise south to Chimney Rock Road and Vineyard Road, or a simple return on Highway 25.

Hacienda rooms (an incredible value at only $35 to $65) are currently available for October 14, but that may not be true for long. So if there are any overnight people, presumably including anybody coming all the way from Sacramento, you really need to commit ASAP. Email me “myf16” and I'll help you set that up.

From "NSFRBLX":
The final departure times and meeting places will be ironed out and distributed as the event grows closer.

Here’s a motorcycle review of Hwy 25
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway25.htm (I want to thank the host of Pashnit.com for providing a great resource on the roads of CA and allowing me to borrow some great material about this route.)

Check out this old thread of a similar past event down Hwy 25, 2+ years ago: http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27304

Please start a list if you would like to join us:

We will talk about this at the official NSXCA club meeting this Tuesday in Sacramento. We will try to make everyone aware and make sure they have the information.

Remember all are welcome at the club meetings so even Bay Area are asked to attend as the NSXCA Sacramento chapter is the only sanctioned chapter in California and west coast.

Club members may e-mail me for info or click here

Ah...something I have wanted to do for some time, provided, of course that ex-NSX drivers are welcome as well. I'm driving a Corvette these days.

Heck, drive 25 again, without the spinout this time, and you'll have beaten your demons...

Come on Ron... where are you? I think you're the only one left who was still a newbie on the first Hwy 25 drive.

Rooms still available

Room availability still looks pretty good. For $35 for a cowboy room you might want to buy one just to give yourself the option to stay over for a morning drive. You might find that you are totally charmed by the place and regret not having a room.

So PM me and I'll add a room for you. I need to know: 1 person or 2, and 1 bed or 2. If you want a $65 tower room (bigger and nicer, with inside bath), that looks pretty good too if you ask me soon.

HWY 25 UPDATE

Well folks it looks like we are one week away and the latest weather searches indicates a sunny day in the Hollister area. I'll update the weather as the week progresses.

Another item is radios.
Does everyone have a club radio?
I have a couple that I can loan out plus a scanner (Rx only) These come in handy to communicate when doing some of the faster sections for safety and possible CHP sightings (not very likely but you can never be too safe in this department).
Those w/ radar detection can also be of use in this area.
bring your radar dectectors if you have them.

For those of you that are on the fence whether to go or not I encourage you to make every effort to participate. This will be the event of the year!!

Re: Attention Sacramento and Bay Area: 10/14 Dawn Patrol Extreme or the 24 Hours of NSX

Just a heads up. It was brought to our attention about 2 months ago that local police and CHP do visit such car forums as one of our local club member was caught off-guard when his neighbor "officer' told him he was aware of a "dawn patrol" the next day and might join for the fun of it!!

So be careful with what details you post. We have learned to share such details in private e-mails and only post the basic date and time for the meeting.

YMMV.
