I was reading an article today in the L.A. Times about how much money and assets have gone unclaimed by CA residents in upwards to billions of dollars. They say if left unclaimed, it will be liquidated and used towards the California budget. The article showed a picture of a guy that claimed a check for $6,000.
I found this link from the CA.gov website where you type in your name and the databank will search for you if you have anything they have that's yours.
I think it also applies to out of state residents who lived in CA too. Hey, what could it hurt? Try it.
I tried it and found out four family members were owed money to them .

Wonder if other states have this?
