ATI Damper puller/installer

good stuff stevenlee, a simple and effective tool. It's probably not a critical measurement but judging from the photos the 16 x 1.5 bolts are 50 or 60 mm long ?

Sparky, I already shipped off the tool to L-Rao so I can't measure them.
I think the bolts are 50-60mm long as you estimated.

Aloha,
Steven Lee

thanks stevenlee, I'm sure I now have enuf info to mock up my own installer.

one more question: a knowledgeable mechanic friend who has worked on many cars said the crank / harmonic balancer bolt on for all hondas he's worked on have a left hand thread. I don't think this is true for NSX, but can anyone confirm the 16 x 1.5 pitch bolt holding harmonic balancer to crank is normal RH threaded bolt ?

"righty tighty ..."

I'm considering replacing the damper bolts with these titanium ones from ATI, partly because the stock bolts have developed surface rust (from sitting in my garage?) but mainly to further reduce rotating mass. Can anyone confirm the bolts in NSX damper are 5/16" ? (ATI are not answering their mail !)

Did you get any answer from ATI? I would like to know too...

Unfortunately ATI have failed to answer several polite emails, which baffles me. I'm considering ringing them directly.

Have you got surface rust on your CSK bolt heads too BBVNSX, or are you just interested in reducing rotating mass?

ATI finally replied, but it's bad news: NSX damper csk bolts are 1/4" and they don't do that size in titanium

I'm sure you can find some other manufacturer that makes a Ti bolt for this application.

Does csk = countersink?

Here is a vendor that might be worth contacting:

http://www.oppracing.com/category/214-titanium-countersunk-allen-head-screw-005-style/

ATI shows a 9-piece and a 6-piece kit. The 9-piece has (6) 5/16 pieces and (3) 3/8 pieces.

Which ones need to be 1/4"?

I had Jon Martin install my ATI damper today.

So, if anyone needs the install tool, I will be happy to ship it to them. Please PM me.

Based on the ATI email and judging size of bolt holes looking at the backside of my damper, I believe all 9 are 1/4" in the NSX damper (6 csk and 3 raised head),
