Arizona NSX Drive Feb 28th Salt River Canyon

Wow! 2 drives in 2 weekends!
I had an enteral sedation course in Las Vegas last weekend and missed that one as well as a conscious sedation course for children this past weekend and missed this one. What timing!
Oh well. I have a girlfriend coming up from South America a week from Thursday and plan on taking her to Las Vegas in the NSX. It should be a great drive, albeit a bit longer than these past weekend excursions. Yep, lots of driving. Don't ask for pictures....

I had a great time!
Here are some pics I took yesterday.

Thanks for letting me tag along.

I had fun until the thought of snow at the top of the other side of SRC and the freezing cold started getting to me (weather.com said it was 30 degrees that time of day!). I had to crank the heater up a little more than usual and drank a big cup of coffee at the gas station in Globe that came back to haunt me in the renaissance fair traffic... :)

Nice jaunt back to Phoenix until the traffic though. :D

Any and all of you are welcome on our club drives if you ever want to go. If you fill out a membership form so I have your email I will send you our club newsletters with drive info.

Thanks again,

Hi Jordan -- It was good to have you along. We should organize a joint event soon.

You forgot to mention... despite the snow flurries... top stayed down! That's what I call "hard core". :)

Cheers,
-- Chris

Nice pics, everyone. I posted some of mine in the picture gallery:

http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29955

These are but a handful (and scaled-down versions of) pics that I got. I am in contact with Seth about putting more/bigger photos on his site. Meanwhile, if you want full-res versions of a couple of the pics, contact me and I'll get 'em to you in due time.

Comments...I had a blast, scared myself on some of those turns. Didn't expect all those rocks, and SNOW! Brrrr...

We will definitely have to be more organized next time, especially with regards to radios. I know FRS isn't good as the club radios, but it's better than nothing, plus it's what our S2k friends use. Right now Best Buy has a pair of Motorola 5620s on sale for $26.99, if you're looking for something inexpensive. Please consider getting some for future drives.

Overall, it was a lot of fun. We'll have to do it again soon, kids. :)

Get FRS/GMRS radios - we are trying to convert up - GMRS is 5 mile range, 1 watt versus FRS 2 mile, 1/2 watt. You can get a pair at Costco (2 dual band radios, 2 batteries, charger, 2 PTT headsets and a couple color plates) for $50-$60. Another charger is $20 - so $35-$40 each if you split the pack.

I want to go up to the 2 watt GMRS which is similar to the VHF (which is only 1 watt), but they are $150 a pop and not many want to spend that much on a once a month item (VHF is similar in cost and requires a paid license versus GMRS which only requires a filed license).

Yo Yo ..... I just found the tread. The drive was great and blow some carbon off .I should have brought a camera so I could have taken a picture of my rear view of the cop on my tail... LOL.
(thank you again GOD :) )

The top speed I saw on my speedo was 143 for the day .

I was riding up behind the S2k later on as he layed into it a bit
when I came up along side we were at 120 ish' and I was just about to go up for a top speed run and I heard a weird sound and I let off not knowing it was the combination of the two exhaust notes creating an irratic sound .

Did you here that S2k???(sorry I left my manners at home and should have properly introduced myself)

Anyway good time overall I'd like to hit the same high speed sections and push it a little further next time .

Ps .... I heard theres a section of Utah that has no exits for about 50-70 miles and NO POLICE .
A friend told me of it about a week ago.

:D

That was a fun run MY355. No problem on the manners, I left mine at home too. :)

My name is Jordan.

I didn't hear a problem sound from your car. It was probably my intake, which rumbles really loud when I hit VTEC (6000-6500 RPMs). I just shifted up, dropping me from about 8900 RPM to 6250 RPM when we slowed down, so that could have been the noise you heard. That's when the intake and exhaust are loudest on my car in my opinion.

Motorola.com also has a $15 rebate online for the 5920.

Walkie Talkies make the drives twice as fun, plus we can avoid losing members of the group like we did on part of the run.

I wish! I had my camera, but was in too much shock at the time to think properly.
