Argh! My Sylvania 9600 XV bulb won't fit!!

Man, I searched and I read the FAQ - my headlight just went out and so I picked up some regular 9006 bulbs. The XV was new and it said it was 20% brighter fits all 9006 applications, whatever that means - I don't know. Anyway, it just won't slide all the way in to lock with the 3 "teeth". After careful examination the XV bulbs are shorter, and the same width, but the plastic base with the rubber seal is a bit larger than what came out. Anyone have any suggestions or experience? Help me out fellow NSXers.

I must be a moron

I was trying to replace the high beams. In my defense.... the bulbs in the low beam headlight had 9005 written on them... so I just assumed they couldn't be the low beams. Oh well. ;-)
