Keep your stock airbox and put it back on...its the best design for you car and anything else will allow more dirt in and make less HP.

That is a great reason...boost!

It may not fit unless he has a rare NA2 coupe. Removable top NSXs have a different profiled airbox cover(17210-PR7-A50 vs 17210-PR7-A02) to clear the thicker engine cover clamshell.

so 91-94 stock air box dont fit on 95 and up car. Can somebody confirm this please? I don't wanna sell it if they don't fit on his car. I have 91 and he has 99. Thanks

You're asking the wrong question.

The question should be:

Is the air box from the Coupe same as the T.

The answer is yes and no. Both use the same filter. The top edge of the T box is different slightly to hold the heavier T engine cover.

ha ha You're right. I keep forgot they do make na2 coupe

I know from the tread that they aren't the same but are they interchangable? I have an 91, will one from a 96 T-top fit my car?

I borrowed my buddies 95 T air box and put it on my 92, so I would say yes.

This is ONLY TRUE if one way going from a newer car to an older car but NOT VICE VERSA. Meaning a 91-94 airbox will NOT fit a targa type car because the airbox will hit the oem engine cover. Unless you don't want to run an engine cover.

As another poster said: Removable top NSXs have a different profiled airbox cover(17210-PR7-A50 vs 17210-PR7-A02) to clear the thicker engine cover clamshell.

My 2002+ NSX oem engine cover has this dip where it goes over the airbox and it hits if you try to use an older airbox.

I have a similar question, is it safe to say the lower part of the air box is the same between NA1 & NA2, and the top of the box is different? Can someone confirm the lower box is all the same?

I think that's the case. I have an NA2 bottom and an NA1 top (in CF) and it fits fine since I have the CT engine cover. The NA2 top is different since it has an indent to fit the stock targa cover.

One question no-one here has asked is why does your buddy want your old Airbox, wheres his old one?

And everyone here will tell you that You always keep your original Parts, cuz your going turbo( for some Odd reason ) and one day when your turbo Does fail, and it will, you will want to put the original parts back in.

An example was this Imola NSX on here a few weeks ago, that the guy took out the Supercharger to make a quick buck and the car sat there non-running, then he tried to sell it,no-one would buy it, then he had to HUNT down all the OEM parts to get it running so he could sell it.

Save yourself some headache down the road and Keep it.

I would just remove the engine cover and problem solved.

This particular case was different because it was a repo car.

A person modified it
B person bought it
car gets repossesed from B
C person/dealer buys it on dealer auction
D person bought if from c few weeks ago on prime.

Even if the person that originally modified the car had all the stock parts I am sure that when the car was getting reposessed he didn't run out of his house screaming " Hey, i have some parts for you too! " :) It looks like the person selling this car few weeks ago was a dealer that picked this car on a dealer auction.

So there is no difference between an NA1 air box and an NA2 air box. However, there is a difference between an NSX Coupe air box and an NSX-T air box.

I think that is a correct statement... at least the top/bottoms bolt onto each other. Never physically had the bottom out to check both.

What does the turbo have to do with an airbox?

We have similar setup I'm doing the SOS SC but I plan on removing the OEM Clam cover. So I can go NA1 bottom and top, I was looking to get a CT lower airbox wanted to make sure of the fitment.

My car is current in storage for a few more weeks but when it comes out I can verify the '00 NSX-T against the '91 Coupe. I see if I can take a couple pics of it.
