Anyone have data on which oil restrictors to use on the new Precision turbos? Correct me if I'm wrong Wil, but the information I got form my installer was to run the car for 30 seconds to see how much oil drains out to determine which restrictors to use. I'm thinking, someone had to have already done this. Anyone?

Every car is slightly different - PTE recommends no restrictor at all but we have found that some cars need it - hence the test.
 
I am using a PTE turbo and running no restrictor. But, I switched to a 90 degree bend 3AN oil feed line. No issues with smoking.

Yes, I (along with others) have suggested that the -3 a/n line is the way to go with the PTE turbo.
 
Have any of you guys ran the kit with the vvis delete. I did and looki g for some ideas. I personally didn't want screws falling into the motor at 9 psi lol, so I removed it. The car will hang with a GTR but while the GTR jumps the Nsx spools and spools then bam. I'm using the standard t67 turbo with the vvis deleted. I have installed the aem tru boost which helps with the turbo lag, but what size turbo would you recommend to spool faster? And can I just bolt it to the hanger I have now or will I need to tweak the hanger to mount the new turbo? Oh, and 1 more question, is the coupler from the upper pipe to the throttle body the same size? I've noticed the piping is bigger and the coupler goes tight on that but is a little loose on the throttle body so I just tighten the clamp super tight.

I put a smaller exhaust housing on mine which bolted right up and was almost free ( got it from a friend). It made a 300-500rpm difference without losing any peak hp.
 
Throttle body is 2.75" not 3". When I install gtx35r t4 3" vband, I have to redo 2 top brackets that bolt to turbine house and 3" vband for exhaust. The v band on t67 turbo is 3.5" or some like that
 
Thanks guys. I'm debating just a whole new turbo. To me, it just feels it doesn't "pull" like it did. It has good top end but I want that initial pull. After riding in a friends gtr I want insta spool lol. Plus I think the turbo isn't holding boost like it should. I want that 3k boost vs a hard 4.5k on.
On a side note has anyone tried the rebuild kit that's like 60 bucks for the t4 turbo and put it on yourself?
 
I have recently changed the turbo to PTE6267 and it does provide better spool with no reduction in top end - the previous turbos are no longer available to me so the PTE and Garrett are the only options (if the customer would like a different turbo of their choice, I will also accommodate that)
 
Just got my car back from Wil after he installed the angus turbo kit. All I can say is its more, much, much more than I expected. The power comes on hard and fast and lag is not a concern with this kit at all. It pulls hard all the way to redline. I went from a s/c to this turbo and its like night and day. My car finally has the power it should! The best part about the experience is Wil looked after everything from explaining how the install works to getting it done effectively, and quickly. He answered all of my questions and had my budget in mind and stuck to it. I explained what I want, and he got it done. The workmanship is amazing, very asthetically pleasing. If any of you are even considering going fi I reccomend checking out a car with the apx kit or send me a pm before making any other decisions. K

Nice but we will need a little more detail. Do you have a dyno sheet? If so post it here and maybe you can tell us a little more specifics about your setup.

His setup is the off-the-shelf kit, he is running a PTE 6267 with .81A/R exh. housing option for quicker spool.

The car just pulled 460WHP @ 10psi dynojet

Thats some really nice numbers! Is that on stock internals?

It is on stock internals and he will be running lower boost on a daily basis (7-8psi) which did 411Whp

Hey Wil, I got a question. I read above the pte turbo recommends no oil restrictor. I currently have/had mine in the oil line. I put in what ever you sent when I put the kit on. I notice others said they don't run one but with the a/n fittings. My question is I have the turbo out now to get rebuilt, and before I put it back in, should I leave the restrictor out? Don't have the steel lines, just the rubber one. I just want to make sure the oil is flowing but not overflowing lol. Looking at the restrictor, it is really small compared to the amount of oil it could be flowing. Would more oil be better than cooking less oil? Thanks :)
 
What you can do is change to a -3 line and fittings, if it smokes then you can add the restrictor.

If I remember correctly - you had smoking problems originally and that is why you have a restrictor.
 
I am a new NSX owner,. Just picked up a 1996 with the auto tranny. I am looking at turbo vs supercharger. In past turbo cars like 3000gt vr4 etc turbo lag was always a concern. The longer the plumbing the worse the lag was. How is the lag with this system?
 
The lag is a lot better than my STI with the factory turbo. I have a .81 housing on my nsx as well.
 
With the current options for turbos with this system, you can have any response curve you choose so lag is a non-issue.
