AP-X NSX exhaust system for naturally aspirated and supercharged applications

Re: New offering : N/A exhaust (emissions compliant)

I would love to convert mine to the 4" tip, cut on a slight diagonal!! The double wall really bothers me everytime I walk into my garage and look down. I would love to have a local shop change out my tips on your system, but I fear that the welds won't look nearly as nice.

All that you need to do is cut the inner wall out using a die grinder or dremel with a cutoff wheel, probably take you 10 min per side.

Re: New offering : N/A exhaust (emissions compliant)

This is actually very similar to one of the new options, here is a pic of one of the options, these were adjusted to point more straight, but could easily be adjusted to angle upwards if desired.

The other two options I need to get pics, one is identical to the current double wall, but 3.5" , the other is a 4" straight cut tip and the other is a 3.5" double wall but different.

You got a better picture? All I can see is a thumbnail size. .

Re: New offering : N/A exhaust (emissions compliant)

As promised, some video from the track day @ MAM. Unfortunately, the video I took facing the track had a ton of background wind noise, but when I let a friend of mine co-drive the car, he put this front facing flip cam in the car and it picked up the sound beautifully.

For the record, for the most part, he's only revving to 7k or so.

I'd love to see the video but when I clicked on your link, here is what I got:

This video either has been removed from Facebook or is not visible due to privacy settings.

What do I need to do to see the video?

Thank you.

Re: New offering : N/A exhaust (emissions compliant)

Sorry guys!! I'm not sure why it isn't working... maybe it's a facebook thing where you have to be friends with the guy who drove my car.

I'll see if he posted it anywhere else and keep you updated! Video is coming soon!

The easiest option is uploading the video to YouTube, as that's specifically designed for video sharing without a focus on social networking.

Re: New offering : N/A exhaust (emissions compliant)

Went and got the car dyno'ed. It's been my first dyno since I installed the AP-X Exhaust.

My last dyno with Cantrell AIS + Unifilter, Comptech Headers, and HKS Exhaust yielded 263 rwhp, 210 rwtq. It was about 20 degrees colder and there was about 10% less humidity, which as many know makes a large difference.

With the AP-X Exhaust being the only difference, I made 261 rwhp and 200 rwtq. Despite being 100 degrees and 38% humidity (versus 80 degrees and 26% humidity last time), I only lost 2 rwhp over my previous dyno, which leads me to believe that the AP-X exhaust at least makes as much power as my old HKS exhaust or possibly even a hair more. This is great news, seeing as you get a similar pitch minus the rasp of a GT One, but don't lost any of the power that is lost with the crazy GT One spaghetti design.

I only managed to film my last two runs, but I yielded 259 rwhp, 261 rwhp, and 259 rwhp on my three passes. I'm getting a Prospeed ECU next week, so it will be interesting to see if I can break the 270 rwhp barrier with a lowly C30! :D

Run 2:

Run 3:

For comparison, here is an old dyno at the same place and at the same angle as Run #2. This was with my old HKS Exhaust and before the Cantrell AIS.

Enigma,

i noticed u had a wideband installed on the exhaust, i´m actually curious on what AF´s do you get with a stock ecu running i/h/e

Do you have that information?

Tks!

Sure do! I went ahead and measured A/F seeing as I'm upgrading to the Prospeed ECU next week and wanted to see what changes would be made in regards to fuel. Here's the dyno chart from the above dyno session:

As you can see, outside of VTEC, the car actually runs surprisingly lean. It evens out around 5000 rpm or so (which is alarming because it makes me feel like I may already have an aftermarket ECU), but prior to that, the car does need a bit of fuel.

Re: New offering : N/A exhaust (emissions compliant)

sorry i only now noticed u had opened another thread with this info,

The car does run lean lol, and i´m even more worried with the readings from 6500-8000...damn that is going lean

The car is N/A - they can run pretty lean no problem , not like F/I!

P.S. Doesn't this car have cats??? How can you measure AFR in the tailpipe?

Re: New offering : N/A exhaust (emissions compliant)

For everyone that wanted to see the track video I was referring to earlier, a friend of mine posted it on vimeo. This is him driving and it does have camera focused on the driver, but it's the only video I really got over the weekend that really captured the exhaust note well.

As I said before, keep in mind, he is not taking the car to redline. He typically was shifting between 6800-7200 rpm.

Re: New offering : N/A exhaust (emissions compliant)

Very sweet. Do you notice any drone with the exhaust? It sounds kind of boomy at low RPM on the dyno videos.

There is only a hint of drone (and I mean barely perceptible, it won't bother you unless you are really listening for it and focus in on it) with this exhaust and it is isolated to a small RPM range only at higher throttle angles so driving normally you do not find it annoying or obtrusive at all.

Conversely, I just spent some time in a car with a GTLW and the drone is almost unbearable...

I would love to hear what others have to say on the topic although it has been discussed a bit already.

Yes, it is horrible. I could not stand that POS exhaust. Gave me a headache daily.

This is the reason I made this system!

Re: New offering : N/A exhaust (emissions compliant)

Has anyone run test pipes with this system? I'd love to hear the difference in sound.

Also, where I would I buy some that would be compatible with this exhaust for the 02+? I have the adapters on the exhaust now from SOS so it mates up tot he OEM cats.

Re: New offering : N/A exhaust (emissions compliant)

Enigma, those AP-X dyno runs sounded awesome! I wish mine sounded like that!

Just to be fair in the sound comparison to the HKS video though, it looked like you were using a different camera. Were you? I've noticed that the sound recording on my five videocameras are all VERY different. The laptop with the nice sound card and calibrated external microphone sounds the most realistic - all others have certain frequency ranges boosted unnaturally.

Thanks,

Dave

Re: New offering : N/A exhaust (emissions compliant)

Wil. Has anyone else dynoed the car yet? Any idea what to expect? 10hp?
Do you make the adapter pipes for a 2000?

They were indeed shot with different cameras. These comparison videos, however, were not. These comparison videos were shot with the same camera:

(Video says stock, that was before I pulled it off and realized I had an HKS exhaust and CT Headers)
