AP Racing BBK for NSX | MexiRicer’s Garage exclusive
Who’s ready for some details on this monstrosity of a brake kit, shoved and crammed under the entirety of the real estate that can possibly exist, behind these 16 and 17 inch Te37 concave wheels. My fabricator (Newman Engineering) and I had been shooting some ideas back-and-forth and we finally decided on the AP Racing Pro 5000 R calipers. I told him to try to fit this on his NSX and told him, “good f**king luck!” because many shops over the years have tried, but they all have failed; no joke. He said, “hold my beer,” and I don’t know what the heck he did but here we are.
There will only be 4 kits in existence. Newman’s, mine and 2 others. Therefore, 2 kits are currently available for sale. This brake kit retains a 57% forward brake bias, which is extremely ideal for our NSX’s. All of the parts are fabricated. The rotor hats are made from 7075 billet and the caliper mounting brackets from 6061 billet. The brackets were cut with optimal rigidity in mind, and they have integrated reinforcement ribbing. Currently, the calipers are in production, as I opted for the nickel-plated finish, which adds to the lead time. ETA to me is roughly mid September. Notes:
* Front inner pads need to be clearanced a bit. I’ll handle this so when you get your kit it will be plug and play.
* The rear rotors have a 60mm braking surface, but the pads encompass only 50mm of it. The rotors will show wear along only that 50mm portion.
* None of these parts are heavily tested and are being sold as, “prototype parts, for display use only.”
* Caliper fitment is VERY tight. About 2mm average clearance around inside of barrel and 2-4mm at spokes. Slim wheel weights are recommended.
