Anyone used the Dali radiator shield?

My radiator is getting beaten up by rocks while on the track. Anyone know how good the air flow/cooling is with the Dali radiator shield (track version)? I don't want to jeapordize the cooling ability at the expense of rock dings. I can always buy a new radiator, but not a new motor. Any thoughts?

Last weekend I just installed the radiator shield I got from Chris at SOS.

Very nice product, easy to install.

I ended up cutting about 3/4 of an inch from the bottom of the shield as it was just that much too tall for my 92

Good luck

Hey Ryan,

As hard as you run your car, your car will probably overheat during the summer when track ambient temps reach the 90's if you run with the shield.

I first installed the shield and started experiencing overheating then I went with the Taitec vented hood to help with cooling, it helped a bit, but when tracking in the summer I have to remove the shield to prevent overheating :(

BTW: There's a track event @Infineon in July, not sure if my car will still be in CA by then so don't know if I'll be able to make it. But I think that a bunch of other NSX owners will be at the event, maybe you can drive up

I had to remove mine while at Streets of Willow Springs where the ambient track temp was 111 degrees on the in car thermometer.

Never had a problem racing at Pahrump when its in the 70's.

Didn't have a problem with the brakes at all at Willow. Dali air deflectors, removed the brake back plate and have Project u pads.

No problems to report here, but then again I would be a bad data point as the climate is so mild up here we count ourselves lucky if it is not raining most of the time... its really nothing like what the Cali and Southern guys have to contend with. I also use water wetter, a vented hood, and cap and over heating is the last thing on my mind usually.

I had to remove mine at the track for overheating. I also have to remove my front Dali plate on the track.

Part of the problem might be the loss of efficiency of my original radiator (fins bent, etc).

YMMV

Ken,
Who's doing the event at Infineon? If it's a two day event, I might make it. Why might your car not be in Cali? Are you moving?
Thanks,
ryan

I have had overheating problems with the Dali radiator shield on SoCal tracks in the summer. Willowsprings, Fontana, Buttonwillow, Pahrump. I just take it off when I'm on the track.
