Anyone know 2009 open track or "hot lap" events in California?

I am trying to find a schedule or good websites that list "open track" or "hot lap" events at race tracks in California. After searching the internet, I have not found much. I already know about Speed Ventures Racing and even checked out the SCCA website with little luck. Visiting the race track websites (Buttonwillow, Willow Springs, etc.) was surprisingly also not helpful.

I'm sure there are some of you who have the inside line (pun intended) on how to find track and rally events. Your help is appreciated. Thanks!

You might start with NASA

NCRC will be down your way at BW June 6-7.
www.ncracing.org

There is a nationwide track event calendar I periodically get but never need so I delete them. Someone will post that link I'm sure.

Plenty of good tracks and organizations up here if you've got some travel time to spend.

Re: ARC Race 5/1

TED- are you going to be at NCRC 5/1 THill? Hope to see you there.
Yep, I'll be there. You got a full cage, turbo and Shad setup in that thing yet? Like Kurt Vonnegut said: "You are what you pretend to be." And no time like the present to start pretending to kick Don's ass.

I'm going to pretend to instruct while I also pretend to race.

hey cool..........your car looks just like mine on the track except its yellow.....same number, same wheels........

Whoo-wee! I thought my car rides low with a stock wheel set-up on a lowered car. Yours may not even clear the thickness of my cell phone. So yours is a 1991 also, yes?

I saw your thread about your day at Laguna Seca. Nice and great pics! One day, I too will take on the corkscrew. Finding an open track event to join this year is turning out to be not so easy.

nah...my car doesnt run that low.....the pic is deceptive becuase I am coming down the corkscrew making a hard right on an off camber turn........

Thanks guys for the good track event info! The Motorsportreg site posted by NSXAMG996TT seems to be the most comprehensive I've seen so far. Still, it does not list everything from the few other events I know of. Hopefully, people will list local track events here as they get confirmed.

Re: How far

are you willing to go? Are you driving the NSX or trailering? You got some travel time to spend?

Lots of good events up here at Laguna, Infineon and Thunderhill. Besides Northern California Racing Club, there's Trackmasters-racing.com and Hooked on Driving.

And if that's not enough or too far, I'm sure Micro-soft John will fill your head full of ideas.

Be careful or you'll end up like Larry; a looky-loo last year who quickly ended up a hopeless junkie. Tell him, Larry.

you can usually get a lot of time at the speed trials events. lots of novices go because it's cheap so be warned.

My friends use to rent button willow like on a weds, we'd get like 20-30 cars to sign up. we'd have 2-3 people out on the track at once and i'd be able to literally driver for an hour straight. by 2 or 3 oclock we'd be exhuasted and call it a day. those were fun times!

Haha...Ted, you must be reading my mind. I already told Shad earlier this year that I want to be next in-line for the DA Turbo Kit (and full cage) once I'm ready to pull the trigger.

I will be trying the open passing group for the first time at NCRC. I'm sure it's going feel like wheel-to-wheel contact racing. Video to follow...

Hrant's got your number now. Get ready for a nice "fatherly discussion".

(And you thought the $$ cost would be the big hurdle to sucking on the go-fast crack pipe !!!) ROFLMAO

Sure, I need your advice on the type-R hood and undertray.

Hrant was the very first person to pass me the go-fast pipe, then Steve told me to go full trottle, and Kip showed me how to be smooth. No one has yet to show me how to do it cheaply:smile:

Is your friend going to do this once more?
