Anyone Have Rigid Engine Mounts?

I filled mine with structural silicone then put 1/8" aluminum end caps on them. They still have a good feel and will not flex as much as stock. This cost about 10.00 from home depot.

They break gearboxes if your putting down any power that you actually use on track.
Now if you leave it parked in your garage, then you shouldn't have any problems.

I assume you're referring to "solid" mounts vs. just firmer rubber/poly mounts right? I read about FXMDs early issues with solid mounts on gearboxes somewhere, but I've never heard of anyone 'sploding a transmission with just stiff-ish poly mounts.

Can someone tell me why they believe having such is desirable and what advantage or increase in performance they will provide?

Please see third paragraph in first post for my specific application.

I wasn't expecting to hear about the transmission problems... still not exactly sure why rigid mounts would cause this over stiff mounts... but I don't have the funds to experiment and find out why!

So, I've abandoned this approach for now.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

FXMD broke a tranny or two using Innovate ridgid mounts... it was an overall increase in vibration from all mounts... not the tranny mount

Longevity of the mount superceeds any oem mount and it gives the drivetrain a more solid feeling.

With the cost of mount replacements... it makes all the sense in the world...

The idea was to stop the motor from rocking with high HP cars and transfer motor power to the drive train and eliminate flexing.
However what happen is that the solid mounts broke the impute shaft at the nose area where it came out of the gearbox because there was no flex.
I know of 3 gearboxes that this has happened too. 3rd gear also had all the teeth shaved from the drive gear itself.

The simi rigid ones are the way to go, as everyone said. They offer more stability and last a lot longer than OEM mounts.

FYI, I purchased a rear Innovative mount from swapshopracing.com, and while it appears to be well built (though not alluminum) the mounting points are too thin and will NOT work with the stock mounting bolts.

The bolts are too long and leave a 1 - 2" gap (significant) effectively making the mount useless...........................................................

Now, if I had looked at the pic closely, I may have already known this..

I e-mailed the vendor and they stated that they will check in with Innovative Mounts as maybe there is a hardware kit (bolts?) that comes with the full set, but not the individual rear..I doubt it.

I'm going to have to look for shorter bolts with the same thread pitch, which should work.. Anyone have any suggestions on what might work from another location of the NSX that I can purchase the duplicate?

PS: DAMN YOU STMPO FOR NOT SELLING THE MOUNTS ANYMORE!!!

I agree that going to rigid will break stuff... I'm hoping to install a rear polyurethane mount and expect it to still flex, just less than what it is now. I have a supercharger n all..

Hi guys,
I make a simple kit that allows you to 'harden' your front motor mount and rear transmission mount. It's a set of plates and rings which press on the stock mount, you can then fill them with urethane. Plates have holes in them you can pour castable Flexane 94 through, tape up the back side holes with your motor mount sitting in a box of sand to support the back side. I have had good luck with these, plus I have been able to use mounts where the rubber is cracked and bring them back into service. Cost is $20/set per mount.
