Okay, about a month ago my honda accord was broken into and my panasonic flip out tv was stolen. The window was broke, the alarm went off, and they got everything withing 3 mins. Filed a claim with insurance to get panasonic unit replaced and plastic parts that were broken replaced. The unit was bolted securely to the mounting locations, and they forcibly snapped and ripped it apart. Now insurance is saying that since it was tv that its not covered under policy. However if it would have jsut been aftermarket cd player it would have been covered. I have full coverage and am a little irrate about this. They say they have exclusion for it but when i purchased insurance, this was never disclosed by my agent or insurance company and i stressed i had things done to my car.

Does anyone have any experience with this or know of a way i can go aobut getting this resolved and at least getting a portion if not all of the money back for the unit. thanks for any help

Make them show you your policy and point out the exclusion. To say it was never disclosed doesn't make any sense - what is on the printed policy you received is what coverage you are entitled to.

Find your policy and read it. The answer is there.

I agree. Make them show you the exclusion. They have to deny it in writing with the specific denial/policy wording in it anyway. If it's mounted in the factory location, they would still need to replace it. What happens if you replaced the regular paper speakers in the door of your car with 3-way components and those were stolen? They would still replace those because they were mounted in the factory location.

By the way, which insurance company is it? And what state are you in?
