I read about this track in alabama the other day. It looks amazing.

Does anyone know if there are any group events out there? All I see is a porsche driving school and its 1500 a day!

Maybe a bunch of NSX'ers could arrange a day out there....

I just saw this track in a Speed Channel endurance race. Gorgeous facility, awesome setting, thoughtful design, fabulous track.

In fact, the track got just as much air time, possibly more, than the race itself!

Anyone else close to this area that would be interested in setting something up? I think it would be great substitute for NSXPO since I cannot make the drive to Cali..

Anyone know any other car clubs that might want to head out to that track also?

IIRC the PDE is a more pricey program than the typical "club" events... so I'm inferring that track rentals at this place are typically higher -- probably out of range for the small-ish test-n-tune / lapping day outing. Am guessing that its closer to a Laguna Seca rate than, say, a Motorsports Ranch rate.

Maybe a Club Race with HPDE type format might work -- I think some local BMWCCA chapters have expressed interest.

I ran Barber in my NSX

I ran the first DE at Barber with the Alabama PCA on April 26.

I have 1 lap on video in MPG format if someone can host it (private me).

It is a fantastic place. The track is awesome. A little bit of everything (i.e. corkscrew, hairpin, carousel, chicane in straight, etc).

There are two more DE's for this year that I know of : One is with BMWCCA and the other with Alabama PCA.

Renting that track is almost impossible. A large, well established club I run with cannot get a date. I think our best shot is to shoot for NSXPO 2005 to be held there.

When are they, and how can we find out how to participate? What is the cost?

If they are receptive to first timers and the cost is something I can tolerate, I would love to participate!

Please keep me posted!

I wrote the guy organizing it, but I havent heard back. I will keep you all posted.

I got a response:

"We should have registration soon and I will send you an application. By any
chance are you a BMWCCA member? I believe there will be no need but it may
help you chances."

I said we don't have a BMWCCA.. at least I don't. But most of us have NSXCA memberships.

We'll see.

You can join BMWCCA without owning a BMW.
You get discounts on many track events and a very nice magazine called Roundel. It only costs about $35 a year.

To do a BMW track event you now have to be a BMW CCA member (Non-for-profit insurance reasons). Like said earlier, you don't need to own a BMW.

That sure looks like a nice facility. ;)

$35 bucks is well worth it to be able to drive on this track IMO!... I am just waiting for price details.

Once I find out some more information, I will start a new thread looking for people who want to come along.

BMWCCA membership is worth it IMO. The events are generally well run and the instruction is of consistent quality.

The AL-CCA chapter is holding an HPDE at Barber Motorsports 30-31 August, with an instructor lapping day on Friday the 29th.
