Anyone Else Watch the Barrett Jackson Auctions?

Do you know what channel or network the Barret Jackson's or Mecum's are on these days??? Been looking through every guide but cant seem to find them. Would be nice to DVR and watch when nothing interesting is on TV.

I am super excited to see what that 2001 NSX goes for. One of the cleanest I have seen. I go to college in Phoenix so I got to go to Barrett Jackson and check everything out, but I didn't see that specific NSX there. But on the way home me and my friend had to pull an illegal U-turn and push his stock FR-S to its limits to chase up to a red NSX driving on the road.
Also Simon Cowell's Bugatti Veyron goes up Saturday. And the 2 Fast 2 Furious Evo that Paul Walker drove just got sold for 46k.. Cheap if you ask me.. Lemme know if you have any questions on this Barrett Jackson event, I am pretty informed about it and I had an awesome time checking everything out there. Also I am brand new to these forums and a 2001 NSX is my dream car. But for me, right now that is unrealistic... But one day!

Thank you. I hope I can find one. That is my dream.
--Haha I have it on in my Econ class right now.. I sit in the front row..

I suspect it will go at above market price.

It was listed here for $75k: http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/Search/DRauSearchDetails.aspx?itemid=2003222
It was on eBay for a touch over $60k: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2001-Acura-...er-Show-Stopper-5k-Alpine-sound-/281167740136

and has been passed around a variety of places. Despite the low mileage, it is pretty heavily modified (especially the electronics) which is a bit of a turn off for it to be a "collector" car.

It will be interesting though to see what happens.

I wouldnt touch it personally. Not only that but i would have to rip out the entire stereo system just to fit in the car. seat looks to me moved forward at least 6" to allow for the enclosure

Count your blessings that you don't own an NSX yet. College was/is the best place to meet girls that you'll ever experience. Any car that's clean inside & out, runs, and lets a girl feel safe will put you so much more far ahead than would an NSX, lol.

Looking forward to seeing what the gas monkey f40 goes for.

That is a cool F40 for sure. Of course you could go the Michael Jackson route, I hear it only comes with one driving glove.

I agree Arista, that stereo upgrade is likely to be even more trouble once you get under its skin and see what kind of hack job was done. I also think that its funny they refer to it as a "low VIN". 48 of 166 isn't that low. Also, I didn't realize there was a magic premium for having a "low VIN".

@Yinzer I agree! I don't even have a car at college with me at school, I left it at home. Lol I have had a girl for 2 1/2 years now too. But you are right. College is not a place to buy an NSX. I saw that episode with that F-40 and haven't seen a better looking one since!

@Blue_myriddn and @arista5 I agree. Way to disco to have so much electronics inside.

Just wondering if anyone else here follows and if you saw anything good? I personally Liked the standard oil Truck, but wouldnt have a place for it

I always try to catch the BJ Auctions. They are addicting to watch. Mecum is mostly muscle cars and hundreds of corvettes. At this auction, I really liked the 66 Sunbeam Tiger. It's one of the cars on my list to own. I also liked the 29 Fiat Race car and the 1930 Gilmore racer. I'm partial to the old 20s thru 60s indy style race cars. As for the NSX, that one would be low on my list of NSXs due to the sound system and other possible mods. But I wouldn't mind a flip up headlight NA2 in the garage next to my 02.

Ed Funny you should say that.... A friend of mine who is at the Barrett Jackson now just bought a 64 Sunbeam GT Tiger about a month ago. Beautiful Little Car

Wow! I'm envious of both. The Cobra is also on my list. Too bad my finances and garage space don't match my list. There's a 67 Sunbeam here in San Antonio with the 286 option that I'm in lust with. They are a very affordable collector car and I believe Carol Shelby was contracted to help Sunbeam with the V-8. If the Triumph TR-6 and Spitfire had a baby that was raised by Carol Shelby the Tiger is what you'd get.

I don't know whether this is asking too much or if this is a great idea (from Spinal Tap: It's such a fine line between stupid and clever) but -

Would anyone be willing to post in this thread when the NSX is coming up for auction that day? I'll be attending a dinner party Saturday and could have my iPhone notify me for tapatalk updates and duck out for a smoke (I don't smoke), as I'd kind of like to see the bidding live for this one.

Separately: It's interesting how high some NSX's have gone for in the past. I'd truly love to know whether it's uneducated buyers/speculators or just the excitement of the auction atmosphere or someone finding exactly what they wanted and was willing to pay up for it. The prices shown include buyer's commission. $81k for a built-from-the-ground-up repainted '98 with nitrous?

And lot #65.1 - NSX weighs 2,650 lbs? OK......
