I've been debating to do this myself or having a shop do it. I can do it but the difficulty and cost of parts/special tools has me thinking of having it done. I stopped by both Acura dealers and the quoted 1600-1800 but they both were a little shady. One wanted 100.00 for an oil change and the other seemed like they rather not do it. Business must be good.

I'm looking for local shops that people have used and trust. Thanks for any help.

I know Orlando is not the Jacksonville area, but if you don't mind the drive First Class Automotive would be the place to take it. All the central Florida guys trust him with their NSXs, he, Nabil, owns one as well and knows the car inside and out.

(407) 228-2849 Talk to Nabil.

Gary,
When you find a good local shop, let me know too. I'm thinking of having the same job done.

CLR1024,
I would go there if it was at all practical. Larry b recommended them to me but unless someone feels like giving me a ride back from Orlando I'm guessing I'm out of luck. Thanks for the suggestion though.

David,
If you want to take turns with dropping our cars off in Orlando let me know! haha. I'll let ya know which ever way it goes. Where ya at in the install?

The company I work for actually owns one of the Acura dealerships here in town. The other one is ~15mins away from my home.
I would be curious as to which store did which in your post.
Would do you say they were both a little shady? What gives you that impression?

You got a new NSX? Going to have to miss the luncheon, I was supposed to be out of town but now am not but missed the deadline:frown:...bummer, have fun though, not that it will be hard:wink:

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the input. I'm heading down this Saturday to get the work done at First Class Automotive. I talked to Nabil about another nagging issue and he said he would have the part on stand by just in case my guesstimate into the problem is correct (Possible bad wheel bearing).

If anybody is bored on Saturday you'll know where to find me.

You made the right choice. Nabil is the best of the best. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Gary,

Looks like I'll be dropping my car off at First Class Automotive on Saturday morning as well, for an ignition switch. I might see you then!

Jason.
I had heard that, so I shifted mine to the right. I'm now on the books for next Saturday. Not really, just had to reschedule. Shame, maybe I'll make it down there for a meet or something at some point. Hope the repair goes well for ya. Let us know how it goes.

Gary

You guys should go "hang out" at Disney together.

:rolleyes:HAHA...Todd, you never cease to amaze me...Where do you come up with these pics!:biggrin: I wish I had some time to go to Disney and "let it all hang out" jk...I have to drop my car off at Nabil's and immediately after take the wifey's TSX to the Acura dealer for some under-warranty repairs.

Too bad it didn't work out for you this weekend. Good luck with the repairs too. I might have to leave the car there till I can pick it up next weekend in the case that he needs to order some parts. I'll update ya on how it went later.

I wanted to follow up on this thread. I got back from Orlando a little while ago after having First Class Automotive do my Timing belt / Water Pump job. I can't say enough about the shop. Great customer service and great work.

They had a wheel bearing on stand by just because I thought there might be an issue with my rear passenger side. They confirmed my diagnosis / guess and even replaced a cross threaded stud some goof ball did (I'm guessing me) free of charge. Since the hub was apart for the job.

On the drive home up 95 the car ran great and of course I had to "test" it out and ensure there were no issues. Though I may have exceeded the speed limit once on a down hill stretch. With the replaced wheel bearing it was so much quieter.

Thanks to everyone that recommended First Class Automotive to me, it was a pleasure to find a shop with people that genuinely care about our cars.

Glad it worked out for you. Now you have a place to take your pride and joy and that's a good feeling to have...finding a great and honest mechanic is like finding gold:wink:

I just had Timing Belt\Water Pump\All Hoses done on my 2000 3.2 Targa by Billy Osteen at O'Steen Automotive. Pricing was more than competitive with Duval and Orange Park Acura and, unlike the "techs" at the dealerships, he was utterly meticulous.

I can't say enough. He did an excellent job. His shop is just north of Emerson on St. Augustine Road. Phone is 904-619-6146.
