I live in Merced County and was just curious if anyone else with an NSX lives in or around Merced County, CA area?

Rick

That depends, are you an owner rick? NSX's are very rare in the central valley and owners are usually very secretive. Where abouts in the county?

Ok, well I just read some of your posts. I guess I missed a few of yours since I never look in the new owners section, lol.

Well congrats on being a new owner. I know of 2 other owners, 3 with you, 4 with me and then a former owner and a owner who has moved away. One of them is a member here on prime.

With you there is 2 red, 1 white, and 1 black. I believe you may have the only NSX-T. The other red is supposed to be one bad supercharged machine. Maybe in time we can get a drive going. I get tired of going on drives alone, makes it easy pickin's for the 5-0 :(

Sounds good KoolAid. I do have the red 96 NSX-T. Yeah, it's good to know there are a few out there. I haven't seen any around the area where I live.

Keep in touch.

Rick

Very cool, that makes 3 of us that now know each other through prime. Anyone personally know the supercharged red? He owns a landscape business and lives in Camelot.

I still think we should plan a nice little drive or get together sometime. Anyone interested in a nice run up G grade, through snelling, hornitos, up bear valley mtn rd, through coulterville, up Priest grade to Groveland and back? It's the most fun around here w/o breaking the speed limit and even that's pushing it on the safety side  I just don't like to brake for the corners, lol.

Personally, I'm more interesting in getting a chance to ride in another nsx since the only experience I have is with mine. I'd like to compare certain noises, ride, ticks, etc etc. Even though our numbers are extremely small, or mods vary quite a bit to be able to compare certain aspects of our cars.

What are your mods so far Rick?

I'm going to feel like the black sheep of the bunch since my car has been roughed up the most from living in colorado with it's sand and rocks all over the roads, getting sand blasted. :(

I should be able to find out about the red one. We've lived here a long time and I thought someone told me who owned it, but I've forgotten. I'll ask around some.

A get together sounds good, but it'll probably be after the holidays for me. Too many events and chores.

John

I have not made any mods to mine. I'm glad to know that you're close to me John...What a coincidence!

Yeah...we should definitely get together sometimes...but like John said, not until after the holidays. I have lots of projects due at school and other things.

Great to have met both of you on here.

I believe his name is Ron, owns pacfic landscape?

BTW, I met a motorcycle cop the other day. Rolled up next to me at the Chevron station by the mall while I was pumping gas. Guy knew ALOT, even has two of the nsx books. I thought maybe he was an owner but turns out he inherited the books from his brother who passed away. His brother owned two, a NA1 and then a NA2 in spa yellow with flip up lights. Kind of interesting, I guess maybe the car reminded him of his brother.

Wouldn't happen to know who is the lucky owner of that gorgeous gunmetal Ferrari 430 would ya? I've seen it once around the mall.

I know Ron but not well. I haven't talked to him for quite some time, so I didn't know he got an NSX. I asked my wife and she says that a friend of ours mentioned Ron had one, guess I forgot(getting too old).

I've met the motorcycle cop. He's really into the NSX. Nice guy, but it startles you a bit when he rolls up, until you realize it's him.

I actually learned of Ron through his detailer who knew someone who knew someone, who I knew, etc etc. Would be nice to check out his ride. His detailer said something about being his track machine even though he does occasionally take it out once in a while.

There is also a bright lime green Lotus exige in the area now. I spotted him driving down santa fe towards atwater when I was leaving atwater. I also hear of an older red ferrari 348 or something in my area too. We have some exotics here and there, never know any of the owners though. All I know is those C6's are like cockroaches in our area now. Boy am I glad I didn't buy a vette.

The motorcycle cop lives about a block from me. He's stopped by to see my NSX already.

Perhaps when he's ready to get one, we can help him find a nice NSX.

More of us, more power to us.

Boy, he really gets around! I'm guessing he's seen all of us so far! Did he any insight on how many of us are lurking around the county? I only know of us 4 so far.

So what's first up on the mod list Rick?

I used to live in Atwater, and graduated high school there in '92. I drove around in a crx. My buddy and I worked in Merced. I wished I had a nsx then. There's always a cruise all over town on the weekends and people hanged out at the shopping center close to the high school with nice cars. Of course at that time, the nsx was untouchable. Thanks for bringing back memories!

Not much of a gathering here anymore. In the summer time, the classic car/muscle car folks from camm club and other clubs are now holding get togethers in the afternoon on friday at the "new" shopping center across from walmart. A few years back, we'd have a "gathering" for a few minutes anyways at the yosemite avenue chevron station before we'd burn up the road towards the sierras on the sportbikes on sunday morning @ 8am.

Would be nice if there was a nice car gathering held on weekends somewhere close by. Colorado Springs was great for that, all sorts of vehicles. Everyone just keeps to themselves here. I get tired of driving through the mountains alone!

KoolAid,

No plans for mods right now. Still admiring stock until I get bored. Hey, what's your name anyway?

Rick

Great to have met you David. So, did you take the NSX out for a sunny drive yesterday?

I took mine out for a little spin too.

Rick

I wanted to. Ended up not taking it out today or yesterday. Just got busy with it being so close to finals so I just hop in the truck and drive. This weekend I might take it out. Not sure because I might drop my header and oil pan so I can weld in the oil pan baffle and do a pan gasket/oil/filter change.

David,

Where do you go to school?

I need to see how you change the oil on your NSX.

Rick

Oil change is simple, need to either jack all 4 wheels off the ground.Or jack the car up on the passenger side to access the filter, toss a pan pull the plug, let it drain while you remove the filter because there will be now be room under the filter to get it out. Drop it back down to the ground, let it drip out for a while. Jack the right side back up, clean off the mounting surface with a rag, wet the filter gasket with motor oil, poor a little oil in the filter, screw it back on. Put the plug back in with new crush ring. Drop the car back down, filler up. The oil filter was really big in comparison to the "new" small filter that now replaces it so there should be plenty of space to move it around. BTW, last time I checked a couple weeks back, acura in modesto had a few big filters left. I'd snag those if you can. I'm just gonna conform and use the new tiny ones next. Nothing special when it comes to changing the oil, just a little extra work since the car is so low.

I'm just picking up the pieces of my first year in college from years back at the JC. Did some military time since then, can't move forward in my life without a serious degree any longer.

Guys, we should have a get together sometime. It could either be in Merced or Fresno. I could arrange in Fresno if preferrable. We have around 7 NSX in Fresno/Clovis area.

Please express interest for time and date.
