Hello everyone, I just took delivery of my 1998 NSX. I knew that the EPS light was on and the owner was kind enough to carry it by the local Acura dealership. They claimed that it was the control unit so it was sent to Brian and repaired. It didn't fix the problem. It was then taken back to the Acura dealership. They said that they were sticking to the diagnosis and claimed that nothing was wrong with the rack.

The car has 56k miles on it. Anyways, I just used the jumper to check the codes. It is a code three. My mechanic double checked it also. It is a code three and according to AllData it is a fault current offset. Any ideas on what this could be? Thanks so much in advance.

Ok, so I hooked power up to the connectors that go into the eps brain and the rack will move to the left and right depending on where I place my leads, so that tells me that I do not have an eps motor/drive problem. Im getting a code three which is a current issue apparently. BrianK has already repaired the unit with the relays. I have opened that brain back up and found that three of the mosfets were bad. I ordered new mosfets and replaced all 8. Now all are reading properly. I checked my pulse box and everything appears ok and am getting different feedbacks when I spin a wheel, so the diff. speed sensor seems to be working. I did in fact have a ground issue and replaced both of my battery cables. The ground issue went away. I still dont have power steering but everything in the eps brain and the pulse box is reading correctly.

My speedo, cruise, and odo appear to be fine and work properly. Could it still be the speed sensor? Any help would be very much appreciated.

There are TWO speed sensors for your model year. Make sure you check them both.

Ok. I'll dig further. My diagram shows VSS 1 but not VSS 2.....I'll need to go back to the manual. Thanks very much for the input.

I only found info for the one mounted on the top of the transaxle. Where is the other one?
