This question is for you guys who have more than 90K miles on your NSX... (maybe u other guys can tell me if you feel a difference too) When in 4th gear, and pushing the gas pedal trying to run it out to the redline, it requires alot of pressure to get the RPM's up to even near the redline... it still pulls, but it seems like it's taking more effort than it should... it also feels the same in 5th gear... 1-3 gears arent *that* bad but it's noticable... whats going on here? Is it that there are just alot of miles and this is the natural progression of the honda engine to begin to feel sluggish after 90K miles? This is really begining to get on my nerves... thanks for your help!

Maybe take a look at the plugs or injectors. When was the last time you performed a tuneup?

Well its past due for its 90k service.. i'm out of town right now and am planning on putting it in the shop when i get back.. i just hope that the service helps this apparent degradation in performance!

I think it must be some kind of problem. There are guys out there like Brent in Texas and Bill in California who have over 160K miles on their NSX and they're still going strong.

how is the mileage? considering you have 90K on the car, low mileage could be a sign of the following:
1) blow-by in the engine- a normal process in the aging of a car. Try doing a preassure test on the block. If the preassure is low or inconsistent, it is probably blow by.
2)Another problem could be deposits from the gas on the injectors. Try using an aditive to clean the fuel delivery system. (I have a 91 legend, that was a problem I had.)
If the injector cleaner fixes the problem, then you should also replace the fuel filter-there is a good chance that the filter will have a fair amount of deposits in it.

This is stuff I have learned in autoshop- hope it helps you.

I'm @ 92k but I bought mine off a little old man who bought it new and just used it as a commuter vehicle...I don't think it saw the redline until I bought it a couple of years ago. My X is very stong with no signs of power loss. Have the dealer look around for a problem. Good Luck!!

I now have right at 178,200 miles on my 1991 NSX now, and my only advise for you is to get a compression test and perhaps a dyno done on your NSX.

With as many miles as I have on my NSX, I can't really say that I've experienced a power loss that's noticable. However, all engines wear, and it would be wrong for me to say my engine has no wear.

After performing a compression test, your mechanic would be better suited to diagnose a piston ring problem. In addition, a "leakdown" test can be utilized to see it there may be a head gasket leak/problem.

Hope this helps! As a final note, I've found the NSX engine to be a very reliable engine that retains its power for miles and miles. I have no doubt that your problem could be solved with simple fixes and/or a supercharger. :>)
