A few of you a while back asked for pictures of the install of my dual monitor system. Sorry for the delay, getting my digital camera back was a challenge but here you are.

The following are the specifications of what is installed - I didn't perform the install myself so I can't help those of you out their with technical questions but I have listed every component used for my install that's on my reciept.

1. Alpine IVA-W205 Head Unit
2. Alpine TME-M740BT Monitor
3. Alpine CHA-S634 CD Changer
4. Alpine KCE-300BT Blue Tooth Adapter (for head unit phone connection)
5. Sirius SIR-ALP10T Satellite Radio Reciever with Traffic Nav
6. Alpine NVE-N872A Navigation System
7. Honda Accord Wiring Harness (AAMPBHA1720)
8. Peripheral SVEN4 - 4 Channel Programmable Source Unit Interface
9. Peripheral PTR7 - Universal Trigger Output Module
10. Rearview camera (This already existed per a prior install I had done, not sure the model name)

How everything works/configuration -

The rearview camera, navigation and DVD player function output through the TME-M740BT Monitor - I'm not using the BT function on this monitor. The Sirius Satellite reciever is hooked to both the NVE-N872A Navigation System and the IVA-W205 head unit. The KCE-300BT adapter is hooked into the headunit so all phone functions are controlled thru it.

I am using the factory stereo speakers for now since I'm not much of a base booming sound kind of guy. I'm satisfied with it and think that is what the other Peripheral brand hardware is for.

I'm not to satisfied with my paint job on the center console so I will be having it refinished another color - thinking about gunmetal grey. Figured I would wait till my Volk GT-V's show up so I can have the spokes, which are gunmetal colormatched, this will bring a little of the outside of the car into the cabin.

Sorry for the reflection on some of the pictures....

Looks really nice man. One question I had is how do you get so many video input sources fed into the top screen (Nav, camera and DVD)? I thought those monitors only had 2 inputs? Say you wanted to integrate IPOD w/video into that system as well--how would you do that?

Once again, nice job commander.

My understanding is the monitor has a dedicated NAV input and dedicated camera input. This would leave one AUX input available for the DVD that is actually being output from the W205 head unit. Wish I could help you out more but I'm just not a stereo/AV install guy even though I am an engineer by trade. I'll ask my stereo installer if he could enlighten me on how he wired the thing up then post it here.

On another note, we are still trying to get the audio out of the monitor for the NAV to somehow output to the W205 with interupt functions. At this time though we haven't figured it out, if anyone out there has any idea how to do this please let me know. The only input left on the back of the W205 is the AUX. Might have to create my own circuit or something....

Looks great!

Curious why you chose to go with the 872A over a blackbird. The new one is a few weeks away from sales, but are there benefits of the 872 over hooking up a blackbird through your 205 internal dock?

Outstanding installation Commander! Okay, so it's not a technical question but what color did you paint your center console?

Thanks everyone for the positive comments -

I went with the fixed Navigation for one because I already had it installed previously. Secondly, if I didn't already have it installed I would have gone with it anyway because the Blackbird doesn't seem to work very well in regards to speed from what I have heard; I've also heard the video quality is questionalble per the unit when it's docked. I haven't experienced the backbird for myself, it seems like a nice quality unit, I'm more or less quoting from what I've heard.

The paint is actually an attempt to color match the existing trim, there is no paint code available; the paint guy pretty mutch matched it by eyeballing it, mixing paint colors together then air-brushing it on. It looks okay but I can tell the difference and would prefer something with a nice coat of hard clearcoat. I think the pictures do the job more justice than viewed in real life...

Commander,

Great setup! Not sure if I'm understanding your question? On the TME-M740BT go to your setup> rear select> select BLUETOOTH AUDIO ON and this will pass audio threw the aux output on the TME-M740BT. Then use Y cable connect this output to the output of your I205 and your Peripheral SVEN4. If your I205 is setup correctly for Nav interupt it should work. I'm not 100% sure because I have not yet installed a I205 before or I would call Alpine to see what they recommend. I have TME-M740BT with the Blackbird and DVA-5210 connect to my OEM head unit. Nav guidance interupting and bluetooth phone threw the center console speaker. Good luck!

Here is a real pic of the Blackbird with dock and the TME-M740BT that a friend installed for a customer. I don't know about the GPS speed accuracy, but what you do think abou the nagivation video quality? Does it look comparable to what you have with the N872A or can you see quality differences? I know the full blown nav has a lot more features though.

Keep in mind the actual picture resolution is not the highest.

Chris, from what I can see in that picture it looks good. My system probably does have a few more features and a slightly higher resolution (maybe even more color), I'm not sure, I haven't actually compared the units.

I would say this though, if the Blackbird is working for you or anyone out their, than I would go with it. The price is definitely a bonus...

Commander,

I have the B100T Blackbird and it is no comparison to N872A. I'm not sure how much improvement is the new B200 Blackbird though? If I had to do it all over, I would spend the extra money and got the N872A. I bought for the convenience to move it from car to car and it sucks!

Just wanted some feedback as I haven't bought either yet. I have never seen the full blown 872 in person so that is why I asked. Maybe I'll wait for the upcoming Blackbird B200. I'm sure it will be a good upgrade from the B100.

i have the blackbird with the m740bt and the video has the shimmers. i know thats a bad term. first off - it has some badly aliased characters. kind of like jaggies in the type and map characters. i can live with that. but from time to time the edges are moving. the changing the screen to night setting makes the background black and that minimizes it. the speed of the navigation is fine. and with the 1.1 software update it refreshes or reroutes quickly. i like it except for the video problem. if i had to do it again i probably would spend the extra money.

It is sounding to me that if NAV is the #1 priority, that one should either wait for the new B200 and see what it is like, or get a Kenwood 510 set up like Skyguy's.

it controls the navigation, the bluetooth, and any other components that are hooked in. in my system it will control the xm radio module, the cd player, the ipod, and the hd radio. with the hub i have there is also a remote control that lives right behind the shift area.

I have the 740BT but not hooked up yet. It can control a lot of Apline touch control ready componets like the nav, DVD player/changer, and it can controll the VPA-B222 Vehiclehub Pro which can control pretty much any Ai-Net Alpine device.

Thanks for the info.

In comparison, the TME-M770 cost more than the 740BT. I'm glad I waited for the 740BT.

Do any of you have a rear camera hooked up to it?

I have a rear view camera hooked to mine - it turns on automatically when I put the car in reverse and is selectable from the touch screen if I want to see behind me while driving down the road (going forward of course).

I also have two M770s in another car. What I do like about it over the 740BT is it has 2 AUX inputs, 1 NAV, and 1 back up compared to only 1 AUX on the 740BT. Also, it is flatter (The 740BT kind of sticks out like the W200/205) at the bottom) so it is better for headrest mounting. Other than that, I too really like the 740BT. Just so much more options with the Bluetooth interface.

So, lets say, you wanted to hook up 3 video sources, (Nav, DVD, and video IPOD)... would you need a 770 or could you do it with the 740bt?
