ALB Conversion for 91 Model Year

R13,

Sounds like you're right on track (no pun intended). I might suggest bleeding the system at least one more time to see if there is any improvement. I realize that this whole process is quite frustrating cause I went through it less than a year ago.
I believe that during the replacement process a fair amount of air can get into the system that can be a real pain to get out. I think that is what you are experiencing. This seems to be a fairly common matter for those of who have replaced the ABS unit on our cars.

Right, I think I may re-tape the bleed screws in the front and sucker a friend into helping me pedal bleed at least part of the way and then use the vacuum pump to finish it if necessary. Maybe pushing the fluid through will be more effective.

So apparently 4 is the magic number here.

I bled the crap out of the fronts again and then followed the prescribed pattern on all four corners 3 times in total and now have a solid pedal. My buddy's leg is a bit sore from all of the pumping, but the ABS works, engages evenly, and does not initiate shenanigans.

Basically, buy a half gallon or so of your brake fluid of choice before going down this road.

Glad to hear that you were successful in getting the pesky air out of the line! Feels pretty good now that its all complete, doesn't it?! Congratulations!

Yeah, In the scope of things I've done to this car so far, this was actually not all that difficult, but pretty rewarding. That was a pleasant surprise.

Props to SOS for really simplifying what could be perceived as pretty major surgery. In hind-sight, I'd probably only rate it about a 6.5 out of 10 on the difficulty scale (taken as a given that you are careful with the lines and can slow down and follow directions).

I had far more headaches replacing the über-corroded tail-pipe a while ago. It just made me a little nervous when i thought I'd done a pretty thorough bleed and the pedal still went straight to the floor when I started the car.
