The aircon was blowing hot yesterday and I suspect that the gas was finish. So I went and filled it up again. Soon after there was a hissing sound from the aircon vent from the inside. A friend told me that the aircond cooling coil might have leak somewhere. Question is singce the stock cooling coil is to much $$$$ to replace, could I use other honda cooling coil. If yes which one is it?

Having someone else replace your Evaporator is costly, maybe $1500-$2500, so the cost of the Evaporator is not the main concern, maybe a total of 25-30%, so I would not think of paying someone else to put in a part that may or may not work correctly.

If you are going to do it yourself, I can't believe you would go to that amount of trouble with any part but the sure thing. It may take 10-20 hours to do the job right for a do-it-yourselfer. I did it, so I know how tedious it really is. Also, I have seen questions about repairing an Evaporator. Even if this could be done, why would you want to remove it and repair it when there may be numerous places which just haven't quite gotten to the point of leaking?

Look over this FAQ:
www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Troubleshooting/climatecontrol.htm

The actual Nippondenso part number is 10PA15c, according to the FAQ.

If someone has actually gotten any other Evaporator to work, that's great, but I don't want to concern myself with efficiency and reliability when it comes to the amount of labor and expense involved.

Good luck.

Bill

Thanks Bill for the reply.

Anyhow I have the cooling coil replace by one shop who has done lots of repair on NSX aircon unit. Took them only half day and cheaper than Honda agent. Cost is about USD$500 which includes cooling coil, expansion valve, filter dryer, O-rings and labour. Off course the coil is not OEM but they found one which is almost the same size and modified it. I also get 6 months warranty although previous satisfied NSX customers have never complain back.

My only regret was that the Honda agent was not willing to fix my car just because I did not buy the car from them. Is this Honda policy or can I bring this matter up to Honda coorporation in Japan?
