Aftermarket Steering Wheel

Yes very informative! Although are you aware of any specific steering wheel manufacturers that use Alcantara or Ultrasuede in their steering wheels? Or is this something I'd have to get custom wrapped?

I personally think leather is a better way to go on a steering wheel that gets touched so much. Unless its a wheel just for show.

I've had suede wheels and have a leather one now and the leather I think is better for my use and still looks new. I hardly drive but the sparco suede wheel had minor wear when I sold it years ago.

I remember seeing Momo, Sparco in the company registry at Toray a few years ago. Not sure who else. You should be able to ask them. I know OMP has been around for a while. Maybe a better question is what their warranty is? and what it covers.
There was a guy with a C5 Corvette that had bought some "suede" from a fabric store and paid $600 to get it covered. After 9 months, it turned purple, lol. I'm sure these reputable steering wheel manufacturers (Sparco, Momo, OMP) don't want to see returns. I would think they would use good material.

But Suede just feels so nice lol.

ideal situation, leather for daily driving with quick release hub and alcantara wheel for track duty with matching hub then you just get what shape suits you best for each situation.
On the NRG vs Works Bell hub i bought my NRG setup off SOS i didnt know about Works Bell at the time what information ia out there that it is a 'knockoff'not saying it isnt just want some info.
if i knew it was then i would have not bought it, i believe in supporting original manufacturers i am one myself in the building trade

works bell info: http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showt...g-Wheel-Quick-Release-Hub-Info?highlight=bell

Info on NRG? Good luck. lol

Just want to say as well I've had a nrg hub and quick release thing for over 4 years now and have zero play. I think I bought a piece from erick evo back then and sourced the other section from an online store.

I don't take it off much though. Maybe 40-50 times max?

Thanks for all the info. As stupid as this sounds, I ended up buying a steering wheel, but not what you think. I spent my fun money on a logitech g27 and a racing cockpit :D

Waiting between track/auto-x days is tough enough, so I figured this will help bide the time in between!

The real steering wheel will come, probably in August/September.

Ha! That's awesome! I have that wheel too.

What cockpit did you get?

I got the GTR simulator model GTS-F. Nothing fancy but has a nice seat and fairly good construction. http://www.gtrsimulator.com/index.php/explore-gts-f <--If the link doesn't work just google gtr simulator and go to model gts-f. Tested it out at the store I got it from but will be assembling mine tonight! Also I have a 100" projection screen to play it on with a full 7.2 Home theater setup. Now I just need to decide if I need to wear a helmet lol!

I have a suede Personal steering wheel, it's my second, and I don't know why I bought suede twice. I drive my NSX 3-4 times a week and the suede is not holding up well, it's matted and has taken on a hard and shiny finish. I've brushed it many times with a suede brush and I think the problem is the oils in my hands, which the brush can't fix. I'm going to switch to leather soon.

Regarding Works Bell, where is the best place to get their products? I'm going to either do a quick release or a tilting hub.

Exactly! The oil, sweat, etc. takes a toll on those suede wheels! If you really want to protect the wheel to your best ability, you should probably wear gloves. But then you kinda looks sorta toolish cruising on racing gloves. haha

Regarding Works Bell, I've purchased mutliple times from Z1 Performance (http://z1auto.com/). They know what you need and tell them synth19 sent ya. No affiliation or anything, just always been happy purchasing from them.

I just got a suede cleaning kit in yesterday: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008S9O7MW/

I'll update the thread once I try it out.

Damn I just ordered a NRG off SOS! why they sell "knock off" thought since it was off SOS it was a good brand to go with... wish I read this thread first!

Glad i ran into this too. +1 for supporting originals (Japan in this case), -1 for made in China. Dont care how cheap, how well, etc. A knock off is a knock off.

I saw your post with your results and I'm jealous. I'm starting to think mine is too far gone as I tried the same thing with my wheel and it worked on maybe half of the worst parts.

Ah well, now I'm debating OMP versus Personal.
