...I was driving home from Don Gallo's River Run on Saturday and I got to a traffic light and put my 5sp in neutral. As the light was turning green, I tried to shift into 1st and it would not go in. It seemed to get about 1/2 way into first, but would not get all the way. I decided to try and slowly let the clutch out, and it grinded. I tried shifting into 2nd, then first and that did not work the first time. Eventually, it did go into first and I did not have another problem.
Once in a while shifting into 3rd will feel a little rough, but never grind. And somtimes there is a little resistance (minimal) shifting into some gears (random 1st, 2nd, etc..) Just figured it was a fluke because it rarely happens.
Is this a sign of a clutch that is going? I think I may be in the snap ring range, could it be a sign of that? I was told a couple years ago that my clutch may be going, but don't drive enough to have put much additional wear on it.
Any input would be appreciated.
