i guess ive always been kind of skeptical about this particular time quote for 1/4 mile.
it seems that a 97 coupe that weighs 3050 + (driver ~ 150 lbs) doing a standing 1/4 mile in 12.9 seconds would need a wheel horsepower of 275 at a minimum based on rough calculation (best case scenario) maybe im just crazy but unless the car has 310-320 bhp (thus my magic +20 hp) at the fly wheel i dont see how they achieved this, but i digress

My NSX-T has 278 rwhp...so I guess it's running in the 12's!!!

Back to the question at hand...the coupes and T's are both great. Living in Cali, I wouldn't trade my removable roof for a coupe. There's nothing like crusing PCH with the top down. Also, colors may also dictate what year you buy. For instance, if you want a yellow or blue NSX those colors weren't available until 1997. If you want orange, you need to look 2002+. Just another thing to factor into your decision! Good luck and hopefully you'll be at some SD NSX meets soon!

OK... I surrender  Damn thats alot of hp =)

back to the point on hand, you may want to consider the fact that with early model car, you can
spend the rest of the $$$ on totally sweet things like 02 Headlight upgrade

i think the downside of early models is you will have to do some scheduled maintainence on older cars
such as Viagra for tired shocks/springs, Viagra for coolant system hoses, worn seats and lots of other little things
that are not quite covered in 60k/90k mile service, and as Surferx stated, later model cars come in some very nice colors and they will be less initial maintainence i believe.

i say get an early model coupe. especially a 91. (first year NSX) the early coupes have so much soul compared to the other year NSX's. (sorry guys) targas are nice don't get me wrong, but they were added for marketing reasons, Senna would turn over his grave. early coupes represents the NSX and all its glory. when Senna past in 94' which was the last coupe year.

i know many of you may disagree. but thats just looking at it from a sentimental point of veiw. all NSX's are great, no matter what year. but 91's have the most soul.

Well said, well said:biggrin: . The early model NSX's represent McLaren-Honda's dominance and glory in formula one racing. Thank you Mr. Senna.

checked out a Ferrari 348 - I love the look, handling and feeling of raw power but I can't get past the poor interior, engineering, maintenance costs, reliability issues, etc.

The NSX would run circles around the 348. I'm not sure what you mean about raw power, but both the NSX and the V8 ferrari's are similar in the fact the engines produce most of their power at higher RPM's. Once you drive the NSX, and hear the snarling V6 at 8k rpm, you'll definitely feel the rawness.

OK. It is bad enough that Ferrari owners say the NSX has no soul, now you are going to say only 91-94 NSX have soul. Come on guys, that is freaking stupid.

Nope... I would go with the '91-'94 high mileage and add an SOS 3.8L engine, IHE, 6-spd, brakes and suspension.

330+ rwhp NA

thats the reason i why say it. and its 'not' stupid to say that the early model coupes have the most 'soul',...ok i'll rephrase what i said,..early model coupes is the NSX's 'purest form'. the benchmark for all supercars to follow. the upgraded 3.2,targa and 6MT versions just don't have that Ayrton Senna aura, just an upgraded spawn. i have nothing against it, as i plan on owning one in the near future. not 'soul' but 'purest form'

p.s. i dont give a rats ass what ferrari guys have to say about our cars

I would agree with that. I think though that Ayrton probably would have liked the Zanardi edition even more.

i think if Senna was still here, and giving Honda input, the NSX would be totally different. definately better than what we have today.
