Adjusting headlight motor?

I have a 98 NSX and about a week ago my driver's side headlight started coming up slower than my passenger's side headlight.

It's only a slight delay, but it's consistent and happens every time. It used to come up simultaneously, and it started happening for no apparent reason. (No accidents, etc.) The headlights still close simultaneously.

Anyone have experience troubleshooting this?

My '91 does the same thing. I've been thinking it's an age related issue; but now that someone else in a newer car is experiencing the same thing leads me to rethink my earlier premise. Perhaps it's not just old age.

If anyone has a solution I would love to know it, too.

Thanks!

Philippe

On my car, one headlight started going up slightly slower than the other as well. Lubricating the two joints on which the headlights pivot up didn't seem to change anything. Lubricating the levers on the bottom of the headlight that attach it to the motor and push it up seems to have done the trick.

What did you use to lubricate the levers? Silicone grease...?

I've noticed that the headlight has started to come up with less delay recently. It's probably just the lubrication.

Thanks!

I used a silicone-free spray grease - http://www.beko-gmbh.com/en/index.php?s=69. It goes on really thin so that it penetrates and as the solvent evaporates, it gets thick so that it won't get washed away. I doused all the pivoting and rotating parts of the headlight assembly with it and now both headlights seem to go up at the same time again.

It's probably like the window tracks - the parts just need to get greased once in a while to keep them gliding as they should.

Good luck!
