Acura vs Honda badge

Because Acura is really a Honda!!! They just brand it different in america and the true roots of Acura is a Honda!!! Most people change the badge because its where the car came from and thats what the car is badge in japan..like the Honda NSX type R!!!

But how many Lexus owners put Toyota badges on? I don't see ISs or GSs from Lexus having Toyota symbols.

Because Lexus owners are embarrased with the Toyota Lable, and Acura owners are not.

BTW. LS/SC Lexus are sold in Japan as Lexus.

And many IS Lexus were switched to Toyota Altezza. So yes, it does happen.

The Emblem swap on the NSX is isolated. You don't see TSX/RL/MDX owners switch their emblems to Honda

you do see TSX and RSX owners doing honda badge swaps all the time now... rsx guys going to the integra badge are more popular though.

Noticed RSX was not listed?:biggrin::smile:

I think most people do it for one of three reasons: (1) Honda is the company with the racing heritage and (2) Honda is the ultimate manufacturer of the car and (3) throughout most of the world the car was sold as a Honda.

4. If you get a parking ticket that says Acura, end the car is a "Honda" in the papers you can wriggle your way out of paying the fine.. :D

Thats why I want to see if there is someone that want to trade my Honda to a Acura badge.. :)

I like your thinking.

here you can't because they record the vin on the ticket

Why do some owners change Acura badge to Honda? Do Lexus owners change to Toyota?

I am pretty convinced that people on this forum want to change things just to change things. If it said Honda already and it was black, then they would change it to red. If it was red, then they'd change it to where it has a different border.

People here are all nuts.

I think americans can't justify paying 50/60/70 thousand dollars for a Honda or Toyota or Nissan. Here in America it's all about status or vanity.

That is what I never understood...

people pay 80,000 for a Dodge (Viper)...and the kind of people that would be 'status motivated' would not have bought a NSX unless it had a prancing horse badge on the front. I think that for the most part, anybody truly interested in buying a NSX would have done so regardless of a Honda or Acura badge... those that care about the badging would probably have overlooked the NSX anyway...

This is only on the IS300, the IS350 was introduced as a Lexus in Japan.

IS350 is not Altezza in Japan. So there is no reason to switch the emblems on that car!!!

I agree. There are many other more prestigious models to buy just to show off. Not a NSX.

The only thing the manufacture of Viper has to show for it... NASCAR.

too bad half of the acuras could pass for regular hondas (ie, rsx, TL).

the difference with Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus.... is a lexus is actually nicer than a toyota

don't worry, people will probably stop changing their badges arbitrarily when Acura is introduced into the japanese market for 08 models. (lexus was introduced over there last year.)

yeah, the nsx was made by honda. no, the us nsx is not a honda, because honda put acura badges on it.

I wanted the JDM smoked tails on my car.

The JDM smoked tails come with an "H" in them.

I changed the "A" on the front to an "H" to match the tails.

No big mystery here. :)

Actually, I know a lot of people who changed the badges on their GS/LS to the Japanese Aristo/Celsior badges and Toyota badges. The problem is after I believe 2000, or 2001 Lexus started labeling more things with the Lexus name vs Toyota like on all the glass.

I changed everything that said Acura to Honda because to me that is what the car really is. It is a Honda with Honda racing heritage, and is recognized as a Honda everywhere else in the world. To me Acura is just a status badge that I do not really care about.

Looks good on this car!

Senna's McLaren was not powered by Acura...
