Acura TL Type S

The deciding factor will not be 17 HP.

I agree. The fact that the Lexus is RWD will make for a much better driver experience.

However, the IS350 is a lot smaller than the TL. To get TL room you need to go up to the GS series -- a good $10K more than the TL.

The TL is still great value.

Isn't the TL's competition from Lexus the ES350 anyway and not the IS?

edit: I just checked Acura's website. They have listed specifically BMW 3 series, G35 and ES330. (which I'm guessing would be the ES350 now)

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Nissan/Infiniti's VQ35 3.5L engine which produces anywhere from 245HP - 300HP depending on the vehicle its in and its state of tune.

Most notably the Nissan 350Z with the VQ35DE 3.5L V6 has 300HP & 260ft-lbs

Other tunes include:
298HP & 260ft-lbs (Infinti G35 - 6MT)
280HP & 270ft-lbs (Infiniti G35 - A/T)
287HP & 274ft-lbs (350Z A/T)
255HP & 252ft-lbs (Maxima)
260HP & 251ft-lbs (Altima SE-R)
250HP & 249ft-lbs (Altima 3.5SE & 3.5SL)
