Activate the lockout solenoid BUTTON (5 to 6 speed swap)

What a pain, but if you want to do it that way.
is this method THAT wrong?? please enlight me about your thoughts on this.

Pin wire 86. One wire. Get a small voltage source from Cig lighter or anything like that on one end, and Wire from pin 87 on the other. When you hit the button. It completes and gives your desired result.
i assume that those pins should be of the ECU, right?~

thanks very much for the help,
Nuno

The pins I am describing are from a typical 5 wire Bosch Relay. They are labeled on the bottom.

The pain I was referring to was having to hold a button while simultaneously trying to go in to reverse. It seems like it would be a large hassle everytime. - My "what a pain" statement came out more harsh than I had planned. Apologies.

no arm here

i don't think i've got to hold any button, if the button is on/off when i want to reverse... i'll let it in "on" position while reversing

what you say it's true if i use a button that functions like those "start engine" of the S2000, right?

thanks,
Nuno

Chris. I'm not trying to bash you at all, and definately wouldn't have put this up if you were still selling the units. I heard you were not. Comptech still does I hear, but I don't think I'm going to hurt their business in any way. I'm sure your cost for these things were large from Comptech. Understandable. Just trying to help out the community. Take Care.

No worries mate, just trying to make sure this is done right.

Yes, it can be triggered off the AEM. Make sure to use a relay however as the AEM can not support the current the solenoid requires.

Cheers,

Just did the 6 speed conversion for my '92 this week and want to relate that the instructions for the Reverse Lockout relay given by nsxlr8 were perfect, and the solenoid functions flawlessly.

I've done a couple of 6 speed conversions now & i think the best/cheapest solution it to wire the solinoid to the handbrake/ebrake. It's a good anti theft addition too.

Which solenoid and where can we get one? The one from post #17 above?

but has anyone tried to go into reverse while driving?

" it works flawlessly " how do you know?
